The game is being played in the middle of the park mainly.

Casemiro has the first shot of the game, from some way out, but Dubravka saves with ease.

  • Man Utd 0-0 Newcastle

    11. Casemiro switches the ball to Antony.

He is all too easily dispossessed by Gordon however.

Crazy to think he cost Man Utd £82m to sign.

  • Man Utd 0-0 Newcastle

    9. Just a reminder that if the scores are level at full time we will go straight to penalties.

There is no extra time or VAR for that matter, this evening.

  • Kick-off: Man Utd vs Newcastle

We are underway at Old Trafford.

This is a chance for them to get back to winning ways.

Man Utd get the game started.

  • Howe needing to change the form

Newcastle have only won at Old Trafford once, when a Yohan Cabaye goal settled the game ten years ago.

The Magpies have only won one of their six away games this season.

They will not get a better chance than changing that against a vulnerable Man Utd side under immense pressure.

  • Red Devils favourites for cup tie

Despite their troubles, the bookies so nothing more than a Man Utd win this evening.

    Man United 11/10

    Draw 9/5

    Newcastle 2/1

All match odds brought to you by .

  • Magpies got the wings covered

Weirdly, the Newcastle starting line-up this evening has five full-backs in it.

There are no centre-backs and they are not playing a striker.

It certainly does not show the depth of a mega-rich side with Saudi owners, that is for sure.

  • Pressure Mount-ing on big signing

Mason Mount plays this evening with many believing the player has something to prove after the huge price tag paid.

It is debatable what Mount did at Chelsea to command such a fee, other than being English.

He scored 27 goals in 129 appearances for Chelsea and often play out wide for them.

Man Utd seemed to sign him as a centre midfielder, a position he has never really played.

  • Time to earn your stripes

At any football club, the captain is pivotal on and off the pitch.

Bruno Fernandes is new to the role at Old Trafford but now is the time that he needs to show his worth as skipper.

He needs to inspire his mis-firing team, pick them up and get them going again.

Many have questioned whether he is actually 'captain material', now is the time he needs to answer those questioning his appointment.

  • All eyes on Dutch manager

Such is the nature of taking the reigns at a club like Man Utd, you are constantly under the microscope.

It doesn't help that this season, they have made their worst start to a league campaign in the history of the Premier League.

Pressure is on Erik ten Hag and it makes no difference what competition they are playing in.

  • The evolution of Newcastle continues

Since their takeover by their current Saudi owners, many have spoken highly of the work Eddie Howe has done since.

Despite that, they still do not have any silverware to show for it.

The Carabao Cup offers the chance for The Magpies to change that and dust off that trophy cabinet in the stadium.

  • Legends look on at Old Trafford

Despite the sad passing of Bobby Charlton recently, he will forever be looking on at the ground.

The trio immortalised in a statue outside the ground includes the Man Utd great.

Fans will be hoping to see the side get back to winning ways this evening in the Carabao Cup.

  • Silverware key to success for both managers

While the Carabao Cup is looked upon as a lesser trophy in the domestic season, winning something is key to both managers.

Performances are often judged by what is won and this trophy offers a chance for both Man Utd and Newcastle to show some progress.

With Man City having been knocked out by tonight’s visitors, they will see this as a very winnable competition now.

  • Good time to visit Old Trafford

Newcastle have a good opportunity to take the game to an under-performing Man Utd this evening.

All too often The Magpies have come here and looked to contain their opponents, hitting them on the counter-attack.

Eddie Howe can send his side out this evening and get them attack from the off and look to book their place in the next round.
