JONNY EVANS' first Champions League game for a decade ended in agony after he was forced off injured.
Evans was chosen over Raphael Varane to partner Harry Maguire in Erik ten Hag's starting 11 against Copenhagen.
It was the Northern Irishman's first Champions League game for United since December 2013.
Evans was brought in on a free from Leicester at the start of the season following the Foxes' Premier League relegation.
He has played six games this season as Ten Hag was hit with defensive problems amid injuries to Varane, Lisandro Martínez and Victor Lindelof.
And he was initially picked ahead of Varane in Denmark as Ten Hag told TNT Sports: "We trust this team and they did very well last Saturday.
