Body of footballer recovered from river with two dead and three injured in horror car crash

A statement confirmed the body of assistant coach Adnan Fajic has not yet been found

THE body of Bosnian footballer Nedzad Mujagic has been recovered from a river following a horror car crash that killed two people and left three injured.

Mujagic, captain of Bosnian side Sloga, died in the accident along with the club's assistant coach Adnan Fajic in the Una river in Bosanska Island.

According to , the other three individuals - all of whom are Sloga players - swam to safety.

Canoe Club Cormorant partnered with USK Support Unit in an attempt to recover the two bodies.

And after locating the car, understand they pulled Mujagic from the river.

Fajic has not yet been found.

A statement from the Canoe Club Cormorant read: "Last night we managed to locate the car, and today, with the assistance of the USK Support Unit and others, we recovered the car, where we managed to find one person with the initials MN.

"Unfortunately, the other person was not in the car, so the search will continue in the coming days."

Sloga play in the second tier of Bosnian football.

Established in 1922, the club is one of the country's most historic teams.

A club statement read: "Dear friends and supporters of our club, it is with great sadness and regret that we inform you that our captain Nedzad Mujagic and assistant coach Adnan Fajic have tragically lost their lives.

"Last night, there was a traffic accident in our clubhouse in which five of our football players took part.

"Unfortunately, this accident was fatal for our Johnny and our Ada, while the other three were saved.

"You left an indelible mark on our club and you will forever remain in our hearts.

"May you have eternal mercy, and may your family be well."
