Chelsea star stunned to see Cole Palmer on England duty as he says ‘I didn’t realise you were called up’
CHELSEA fans labelled Cole Palmer as “the funniest guy alive” after a team-mate was left stunned at seeing him on England duty.
The 21-year-old star broke former boss Pep Guardiola’s heart with a dramatic late penalty to earn the Blues a 4-4 draw against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
That was Palmer’s fourth goal for the Blues since his arrival from the Cityzens on a seven-year contract on September 1.
His stunning form for the West London side has now been rewarded with a first call-up to England’s senior squad.
Palmer is now hoping to make his Three Lions debut in Friday’s dead-rubber Euro qualifier against Malta.
If that fails to happen then the ace, who helped England to win the U21 Euros in July, could get the opportunity under Gareth Southgate in Monday’s clash with North Macedonia.

Palmer and the rest of the England squad met up yesterday to begin preparing for action.
And in footage shot from St. George’s Park, which was shared by the England social media account, it showed Palmer greeting Chelsea team-mate Conor Gallagher.
However, it seems that Gallagher was shocked to see him on international duty.
“Congrats to you, didn’t realise you’d been called up,” says the ten-capped 23-year-old to the whizzkid.

“Yeah, right after the game it was,” replied Palmer before adding as he walked off smiling: “I thought it was a blag at first. I swear. It looked real so...”
The clip, which was accompanied with a laughing emoji and a caption saying “Definitely real, Cole” was soon being shared by Chelsea supporters.
And they seem to be falling even more in love with the £42.5million summer signing.
“This guy is hilarious,” declared one supporter.
“Haha I really like Cole Palmer. Such an awkward kid but he's going to be massive,” said another.
A fellow fan commented: “Most laid back footballer ever.”
While another added: “He cracks me up.”
