SOUTH AFRICA RUGBY UNION'S offices were BURGLED but the thieves decided against stealing the World Cup trophy.
Footage of the crime has been shared on social media of the individuals breaking into the premises.
According to , they stole five signed Springbok jerseys and a haul of laptops.
However, the clip shows them leaving the World Cup trophy won by South Africa last month.
One of the burglars looks at the silverware and appears to be assessing whether it is worth taking.
But he instead leaves it on the worktop and goes looking for other valuables.
This detail left fans in hysterics as they took to Twitter to react.
One said: "Quite patriotic if you ask me, stole personal materials but they left the item that brought national pride and cohesion amongst South Africans."
Another added: "Hahaha this is hilarious."
A third replied: "Patriotic robbers innit?😂��"

South Africa defended their crown by claiming a record fourth Rugby World Cup at the end of October.
The Springboks beat New Zealand 12-11 in a desperately close final after seeing off hosts France and 2003 winners in England in the previous two rounds.
