Stunning new £780million stadium of iconic club slammed for weird design – but there’s a good reason for it

REAL MADRID'S new-look stadium has been slammed for its weird design.

The iconic Santiago Bernabeu has been undergoing a facelift since 2019, with full completion scheduled in the coming weeks.

In October club chiefs asked members to grant an additional £322m of loan to finance the developments.

This was "virtually unanimously" approved according to a Real Madrid statement last week, with 96.1 per cent of votes going in favour.

The renovations have seen a retractable roof added and will see its capacity raised from 81,000 to 85,000.
