The midfielder was seen grimacing on the pitch as he limped off the pitch.

It is now reported that Gavi has torn his ACL and damaged his meniscus, ruling him out for the rest of the season.

According to , the youngster will be out for between seven and nine months, with further tests set to confirm the true extent of his lay-off.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation had already confirmed Gavi has injured his knee badly.

The RFEF stated: “It’s a serious injury to his right knee, but we need to wait to see how bad it actually is.”

Barca and Spain team-mate Ferran Torres celebrated his goal by hoisting Gavi’s number nine shirt aloft, which left fans concluding the injury would be a bad one.
