LUIS SUAREZ has named Darwin Nunez as "one of the best No9s in the world" after the striker's impressive performance on Tuesday.

Fans have praised the Premier League star echoing the Uruguayan legend's style and said "Game recognises game".

Suarez was quick to praise his fellow Uruguay team-mate Nunez after the Liverpool forward scored twice against Bolivia in the South American World Cup qualifier.

La Celeste swooped up a stunning 3-0 victory marking the 36-year-old's 138th international cap.

And Nunez now joins the ex-Reds striker in a small group of Uruguay stars who have managed to score in four consecutive World Cup qualifiers.

In response to the 24-year-old's recent efforts, Suarez is hopeful that when he retires the ex-Benfica star will acquire his No9 shirt.

Suarez said: "I have one of the best No 9s in the world ahead of me.

"We have to support him and enjoy him. Today I am in another role than before and I am happy to be here helping the group."

And Liverpool fans were quick to praise Nunez after he was applauded by their former hero.

Some even called out that skilled players like Suarez can spot talent on the pitch as one fan on : "Games recognise game."

And another fan put: "One of the greatest strikers of 21st century."

A third added: "Darwin is a hard-working lad and I believe that under Klopp, he will become one of the best number 9's in the world."

The Reds forked out a club-record £85million fee to sign Nunez in 2022 from Portuguese giants Benfica.

After an underwhelming debut season, the Uruguayan has redeemed himself with an impressive 12 goals and eight assists this term for club and country.

His performance on Tuesday took him to the top of the leaderboard for most goals scored in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying.

The forward will hope to continue to impress Liverpool fans this Saturday as they face Premier League frontrunners Manchester City.
