ELTON JOHN has revealed he phoned Ryan Reynolds after Wrexham gained promotion to League Two.
The Welsh outfit ended their 15-year exile from the English Football League last season.
The club was boosted by the arrival of Hollywood owners Reynolds and Rob McElhenney in 2020.
The pair managed to help the club finally win promotion out of the National League through their investment in the club.
After becoming a League Two club, Deadpool star and club owner Reynolds was called by another of football's celebrity faces.
The "Rocket Man" musician was the owner and chairman of in the 1970s and 1980s.

John, 76, revealed that he phoned Reynolds in an interview with Gary Lineker on BBC.
When asked about the influx of celebrities into football, he said: "It's great and I phoned Ryan when they won and they got promoted.
"I think it is fantastic.
"They're on the ride that I was on.

"It is slightly different because times have changed but it's no more un-exciting.
"It is so exciting for them.
"I bet they have more fun doing that than any movie they've ever made."
Since promotion, Wrexham have not looked like slowing their climb up the England football ladder.
In their first season in League Two, they are currently sitting fourth in a play-off spot after 18 matches.
