Alan Shearer slams Man Utd flops after defeat at Newcastle and says Erik ten Hag has ‘too many bad eggs’ in his team

ALAN SHEARER says Erik ten Hag has “too many bad eggs” in his team as he slammed Manchester United’s flops after the defeat at Newcastle.

The Red Devils side suffered a sixth Premier League loss of the campaign as Anthony Gordon secured the Magpies a 1-0 win last night.

Newcastle completely dominated throughout despite a late push for an equaliser from United at St James’ Park.

Ten Hag was spotted rowing with forward Anthony Martial during the game, while Marcus Rashford looked upset after he was subbed off as the problems at Old Trafford continue to mount.

United legend Paul Scholes called his old team’s performance “rubbish” as he slammed the players as “lazy” afterwards.

And now Newcastle and England icon Shearer has stuck the boot in too.

Assessing the game on Match of the Day, he said: “They [Newcastle] absolutely battered Man United in wide areas.

“[Kieran] Trippier and [Tino] Livramento were sensational against [Aaron] Wan-Bissaka and [Diogo] Dalot.

“In their defence, they got no help whatsoever from [Alejandro] Garnacho and [Marcus] Rashford. Rashford didn't look at it at all - didn't look interested.

“It happened so many times. Newcastle created so many chances and they should have had many goals.”

Shearer then got personal and said: “For me, there are too many bad eggs in that Man United team. Too many bad attitudes.

“It's alright when things are going well for you, you can get your feet on the ball, play and pick your head up when things are nice and rosy.

“When it's not going for you, when you're a bit tired and you've got to roll your sleeves up, there's not enough characters in that team.”
