Ian Wright confronted Tony Adams and told him ‘that stinks’ after hearing what he said about Arsenal dressing room

IAN WRIGHT has revealed how he confronted fellow legend Tony Adams over remarks he made claiming the striker was often late.
The duo won a number of honours together during their time at Arsenal in the 1990s.
Wright, 60, became the club’s record goalscorer during his six years at Highbury before departing for West Ham in 1998.
Adams, meanwhile, spent his entire 19 year playing career with Arsenal and captained both them and England.
He won the league four times, skippering them in three different decades, before finally hanging up his boots in 2002.
Adams remains one of the greatest players to ever line up for the North London club, but he left his former team-mate Wright absolutely seething once after an appearance on a TV show.

Speaking on , brought to you by , the ex-forward was discussing recent comments from Nemanja Matic regarding lateness being an issue amongst stars during his time at Manchester United.
That led to Wright recalling: “I remember listening to Tony Adams on a show, it was starting to get really ‘laddy’.
“Tony told a story about George Graham, and then Arsene Wenger, having to change training because of my lateness.
“What Tony is implying is that I’m so late, so many times. You’re going to say to me that I’m late so many times that Graham and Wenger have to change training?”

Wright continued: “I phoned Tony up and said, ‘what am I hearing, what are you talking about?’ I said something like, ‘that stinks’.
“I wasn’t late where people were waiting on me. I had to come from Croydon to St Albans – I left in the morning on time, I wanted to make sure I was punctual, it’s one of the things I hate more than anything else.
“When I heard that, I was devastated and he apologised – I don’t want that story out there because that is not what I’m about, I hate lateness.”
