Venue
Naturally for a clash of this calibre we are at the mecca of boxing.
Madison Square Garden? No. The Caribe Royale Orlando in Orlando, obviously.
It boasts a whopping 4 stars on TripAdvisor, although Joseph L was disappointed with the cabinets and broken cooking equipment.
Michael N hated the whirring noises, while Angie couldn't fine a table for breakfast on her last morning. Sad.
Anyway, from what I can tell the theatre has a capacity of 5,000 people. You can also grab tickets PLUS a Suite at Caribe Royale Orlando for just $384 (plus tax and fees).
Plenty still available. Bargain.
Alexander Gueche vs Clayton Ward
We've got an unbeaten pair heading into the ring for a Super flyweight four-rounder. Clayton Ward is 1-0 while Alexander Gueche is 2-0.
Someone's '0' has got to go…
"He's a beast"
Featherweight world champion Amanda Serrano is in no doubt who's winning later this evening.
Zachary Randolph beats Michael Manna by majority decision
It did go the distance.
Never really in doubt this one, for me at least. A good, honest scrap between two cruiserweights, but Zachary Randolph comfortably earned the tenth win of his career.
One judge had it as a draw, while another gave Randolph all six rounds. Not sure about that one.
Honourable mention for Michael Manna, who is clearly from the school of Derek Chisora. Looked gassed from the first minute but somehow keeps on swinging and has a chin like a brick wall.
Who is Andre August?
Great question.
Well, he's a professional boxer with a record of 10-1 with five knockouts on his CV.
Oh, and he's from Beaumont, Texas. Don't know why I felt that worthy of mention.
Anyway, he's got 17,800 Instagram followers -- which is roughly 25 million less than Jake Paul, and exactly 17,800 more than myself.
The 35-year-old made his boxing debut back in May 2013 when he defeated Steven Medrano via TKO.
Just the one loss on his record, and that came in 2018 against Eric Abraham via a technical knockout in Round 2.
August's latest victory came against previously undefeated Brandon Martin in August 2023, which he won unanimously on points.
That was, however, his first fight since 2019. So, a little rusty you could argue.
Prelims
Cruiserweights Zachary Randolph and Michael Manna are fighting in the first prelim of the night as we speak.
12 people and the photographers are enjoying it. I think. It's scheduled for Six Rounds, and trust me, it'll go the distance.
Jake's path
So as I've mentioned, Jake Paul will test himself against a professional boxer for only the second time in his career tonight.
Things had been going swimmingly for the Problem Child, who previously boasted a 6-0 record with wins over ex-UFC champions Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva among others.
But his perfect record now has a blemish.
Tommy Fury beat Paul by split decision in February, although the former Love Island contestant and brother of Tyson Fury, was knocked down by the YouTuber-turned-boxer in the eighth round that night.
Nonetheless, one judge scored it 75-74 to Paul, with the other two scoring it 76-73 to Fury.
Paul bounced back with another win over an ex-UFC star in Nate Diaz in August, but tonight he returns in the ring with a pro boxer.
What's happening?
Nope, no titles or anything like that up for grabs tonight. This is a standard Cruiserweight contest under normal rules.
The main undercard is set to get underway at 12.30am UK time, with the main event ring-walks scheduled for 3.30am.
Obviously those timings could change depending on how quickly the undercard goes.
An early finish would be most welcome for me here blogging by candle light and drinking stale coffee.
Evening
If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
Although in Jake Paul's case it should perhaps be…
If at first you don't beat a professional boxer, fight another retired UFC star and then try again.
Yes that's right, the Problem Child is back in then ring for the third time in 2023, and he's fighting a pro boxer for only the second time in his career.
He's up against *checks notes* Andre August…
Ok, he's not a household name (anywhere in the world) but he does boast a 10-1 record and fancies his chances of doing some damage.
