  • What's next for Tyson Fury?

Obviously Tyson Fury is totally focused on his upcoming undisputed megamatch against Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury and Usyk lock horns on February 17 in Saudi Arabia for every title available.

And the winner could go on to face Anthony Joshua next, provided a rematch isn't in the offing.

Fury has previously called out for a Battle of Britain against AJ - but that will all depend on how his historic scrap against Usyk plays out.

  • What's next for Deontay Wilder?

Deontay Wilder was supposed to face Anthony Joshua next - provided he beat Joseph Parker first.

The winner would have gone on to fight the victor between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

However, Wilder came up short against Parker and those plans are now uncertain, despite rumours of a £100million two-fight contract with Joshua being agreed.

Therefore, the Bronze Bomber will have to find another way to bounce back - that is of course if he doesn't retire like he suggested following his loss to the New Zealand star.

The 38-year-old may have to forget about facing AJ and instead learn from him as he found a way to recover after his shock loss to Andy Ruiz Jr and two miserable defeats to Usyk.

Perhaps a rematch against Parker is in order as that could be the only way Wilder could return to the title picture.

  • What's next for Anthony Joshua?

Anthony Joshua is unlikely to lock horns with Deontay Wilder any time soon.

That is despite Joshua's stunning and dominant victory over Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia.

AJ's promoter Eddie Hearn previously suggested Filip Hrgovic is next for the British star.

However, the 34-year-old also wants to face the winner of the upcoming superfight between Tyson Fury and Oleskandr Usyk.

But that pair are likely to have a rematch clause in their contract - which could mean the IBF title being vacated.

That could offer Joshua, who is ranked as No1 by the IBF, fight that organisation's mandatory, Filip Hrgovic.

And a chance to reclaim his old world title could prove far too tasty to turn down.

  • 'Long road still ahead for AJ'

Anthony Joshua’s decisive victory over Otto Wallin could be good for his mental state - he's still on a tough road.

That’s the verdict of fellow British ex-world champ Lennox Lewis.

He said: “I think it does good for his mental state.

“Everybody saying he’s back, but there’s still a long road ahead, and some hard fighters.”

  • AJ trainer wants revenge on Usyk

Anthony Joshua’s trainer reckons he had can help the Brit “put right” his two losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Filip Hrgovic could be next for AJ following his victory over Otto Wallin and a surprise defeat for the man he was previously expected to face – Deontay Wilder.

And Ben Davison told IFL TV: “We’d love to put the Usyk fight right for him.

“I said to him when he first came we’re very confident we can do that.”

Of his own future training Joshua, Davison added: “He’s enjoyable to work with but we’ll take it step by step.”

  • Yes to Zhang, no to Wilder or Parker

Yesterday's "Day of Reckoning" in Saudi Arabia means Zhilei Zhang looks a far better opponent for Anthony Joshua than Deontay Wilder or Joseph Parker.

That's the verdict of multiple ex-world champ Carl Froch following AJ's win over Otto Wallin and Parker's defeat of Wilder.

Joshua is likely to take on Filip Hrgovic next, ahead of a possible title decider with Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk.

And Froch told : "Do we want to see Antyhony Joshua now fighting Deontay Wilder on the back of that performance against Joseph Parker? No - well I don't anyway.

"I don't want to see AJ against Parker either because AJ's already beaten Parker.

Maybe we get AJ against Zhang. That's a good fight."

And despite his doubts over Wallin's contribution, Froch said: "AJ dominated and got the job done."

  • Cobra says Wallin lacked venom

Carl Froch explained his mixed response to Anthony Joshua beating Otto Wallin.

The Cobra reckons it was more like a "sparring session" because AJ's decent display came against a Swede who "didn't look good".

The ex-world champ told his : "From round one he (Joshua) was behind his jab, he meant business.

"It was quite solid. All right he was in against a guy who didn't look good, had a bit of a belly on him, he's got no pecs or biceps.

"But he went 12 rounds with Tyson Fury - I'm not going to write him off.

"AJ looked positive, he looked solid, he looked sharp. He got the job done. But he's not fully back.

"It was a solid performance it was what we wanted to see - positivity on his front foot looking for the counter and looking for the finish."

  • AJ not 'fully back' says Froch

Boxing legend Carl Froch claims Anthony Joshua is "not fully back".

Froch praised AJ for "looking positive, solid, sharp" in victory - but criticised his opponent Otto Wallin's physical condition.

The ex- super-middleweight king, 46, also believes Deontay Wilder's dismal defeat against Joseph Parker should rule BOTH of those two heavyweights out of fighting Joshua next.

  • 'Keeps silencing the doubters'

Ex-fighter Anthony Fowler hopes Anthony Joshua has earned the respect of the boxing world by once again "silencing the doubters".

And when one fan claimed of Joshua's weekend victim Otto Wallin "that was no opponent" Fowler pointed out the Swede "gave Fury a good fight".

The Liverpudlian, 32, himself won bronze at the 2013 World Championships and Commonwealth gold the following year before winning 16 of his 18 pro fights.

And Fowler posted: "Very impressive from Joshua, he looked as good as he has for a long time, he keeps silencing the doubters, you’ve gotta respect that."

  • Fans' verdict on who's next for AJ

Fans fired off an array of verdicts when asked who Anthony Joshua should take on next.

Francis Ngannou was a popular choice, but Deontay Wilder, Filip Hrgovic and Zhilei Zhang were also on the list.

Many fight-lovers think Tyson Fury should then be second up for Joshua in 2024.

TalkSPORT'S Michael Benson posed the question of AJ's next opponent.

One fan replied: "I actually wanna see Francis in there with him." And another said: "Francis Ngannou, so he can be humbled."

A third argued: "Deontay Wilder, he knocks out Joshua." But a fourth posted: "Wilder….. Joking."

    "Zhang/Hrgovic," wrote a fifth.

And another enthusiast explained such thinking. He said : "Zhang before the Fury fight. I don't rate Fury against AJ."

  • Tack to the future

Ellie Scotney joined the praise as Anthony Joshua made it three victories out of three for 2023 .

The English featherweight fighter shared her verdict on social media: "AJ was sharp as a tack tonight."

  • 'Fight Ngannou next then Fury or Usyk'

Boxing manager Sam Jones has given his verdict on who Anthony Joshua's next two opponents should be.

He posted: "If I’m AJ I’m fighting Francis Ngannou next and then the winner of Fury Usyk for all the marbles In September."

However, Croat Filip Hrgovic appears first in line to take on Joshua.

  • All spite on the night

Tony Bellew's trainer believes Anthony Joshua made talk of a "banana skin" fight look silly with a "spiteful" demolition of Otto Wallin.

Ex-boxer Dave Coldwell, now a fight analyst for Sky Sports, suggested the brit did everything he needed to do to restore his world class status.

Coldwell said: "Great performance from Joshua there.

"People viewing it as a banana skin. All the talk pre fight - smart, clinical and spiteful performances" - followed by a hand-clap emoji.

  • Warren salutes 'dominant' Joshua

Frank Warren claims Anthony Joshua's "dominant" victory lit up the "Day of Reckoning" in Riyadh.

Deontay Wilder's defeat to Joseph Parker rocked the schedule.

But AJ then overwhelmed Otto Wallin so effectively that the Swede's team threw in the towel after five rounds.

Warren posted: "Dominant win ! Some massive fights in the division to make, the did not disappoint."

  • AJ made me 'eat my words'

Shawn Porter admits he's "eating his words" after Anthony Joshua dismantled Otto Wallin.

The two-time  world champion turned commentator was surprised by the ease and style of AJ's third win this year.

Porter posted: "AJ looked fantastic, and I’m eating the words I said on this week's podcast that he should have been the co-main event. Salute AJ."

  • Davison eyes Joshua vs Usyk III

Anthony Joshua's trainer reckons he had can help the Brit "put right" his two losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

Filip Hrgovic could be next for AJ following his victory over Otto Wallin and a surprise defeat for the man he was previously expected to face - Deontay Wilder.

And Ben Davison told IFL TV: "We'd love to put the Usyk fight right for him.

"I said to him when he first came we're very confident we can do that."

Of his own future training Joshua, Davison added: "He's enjoyable to work with but we'll take it step by step."

  • 5 - Daniel Dubois

Daniel Dubois is determined to face either Tyson Fury or Oleksandr Usyk next.

Dubois has also called Anthony Joshua out, but his fellow Brit is likely to compete for the IBF title next.

  • 4 - Oleksandr Usyk

As mentioned earlier, a rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury could be set up after their fight.

Usyk is also undefeated and Fury has all the tools to hand the Ukrainian superstar his first ever loss.

A trilogy fight can't be ruled out either, while Daniel Dubois and Anthony Joshua have called both heavyweights out.

  • 3 - Tyson Fury

Obviously Tyson Fury is totally focused on his upcoming undisputed megamatch against Oleksandr Usyk.

Fury and Usyk lock horns on February 17 in Saudi Arabia for every title available.

And the winner could go on to face Anthony Joshua next, provided he doesn't go for the vacated IBF title.

A rematch against Usyk, especially if he ends the Gypsy King's undefeated streak, could also be on the cards.

  • 2 - Anthony Joshua

Anthony Joshua is unlikely to lock horns with Deontay Wilder any time soon.

That is despite Joshua's stunning and dominant victory over Otto Wallin in Saudi Arabia.

AJ's promoter Eddie Hearn previously suggested Filip Hrgovic is next for the British star.

However, the 34-year-old also wants to face the winner of the upcoming superfight between Tyson Fury and Oleskandr Usyk.

But such a fight would be difficult as Fury and Usyk will face off in an undisputed bout that will see the IBF title being vacated after the bell.

And the IBF want their mandatory fighter Hrgovic to fight for it next.

  • What last night means for FIVE fighters

    1 Deontay Wilder

Deontay Wilder was supposed to face Anthony Joshua next - provided he beat Joseph Parker first - and the winner would have gone on to fight the victor between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk.

  • How Wilder loss has shaken up heavyweight plans

Deontay Wilder's shock loss to Joseph Parker has shaken boxing's heavyweight division to the core.

Parker defeated Wilder via unanimous decision in Saudi Arabia - when the American was expected to fight Anthony Joshua next.

This fight was supposed to set up a highly-anticipated clash between the Bronze Bomber and Anthony Joshua.

That would have been the case as Joshua beat Otto Wallin via TKO in the fifth round.

AJ was successful in his unofficial semi-final bout, however the American fell short and seems to have put that dream match on hold.

But what does that also mean for other heavyweights, such as Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois? SunSport reveal what's next for each boxing star.

    STICK HERE FOR OUR VERDICT...

  • Did AJ tell Ruiz 'I'm back'?

Anthony Joshua showed his class as he embraced ex-opponent Andy Ruiz Jr following his win over Otto Wallin.

AJ stopped Wallin in the fifth round after a dominant display at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

After his win Joshua walked to the edge of the ring and beckoned over Ruiz, who took his world championship belt off him in 2019.

The Brit leant over the ropes and shook hands with Ruiz before putting his fist to his heart.

Ruiz smiled in return and put his thumbs up, with the pair clearly on good terms despite their history.

TNT Sports' Laura Woods said: “It looked like he went up to Andy Ruiz and said ‘I’m back'."

Joshua, 34, beat Ruiz in their Saudi Arabian rematch to take back his world championship titles six months after his first-ever loss.

  • 'Mental boost for Joshua'

Anthony Joshua's decisive victory over Otto Wallin could be as good for his mental state as it is proof of his brilliant physical condition.

That's the verdict of fellow British ex-world champ Lennox Lewis.

He said: “I think it does good for his mental state.

"Everybody saying he’s back, but there’s still a long road ahead, and some hard fighters."

  • 'I'd rip Wilder apart' - AJ

Anthony Joshua predicts Deontay Wilder will return but warned him: "I'd rip you apart."

AJ's five-round win contrasted with Wilder's plodding points loss on the same Saudi bill.

That seemingly wrecked plans for the Brit to meet the American next year.

But after dispatching Otto Wallin, Joshua said: "I heard Deontay lost, so what? He will come back.

“Everything Deontay said about me, I could rip him apart right now but I’m going to take the high ground and I hope he comes back.

“You can do anything, just don’t give up, if he wants he can come back and fight another day.”
