Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta gives worrying Gabriel Jesus injury update after striker missed Liverpool FA Cup defeat
GABRIEL JESUS is set for a spell on the sidelines after Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta confirmed a scan on his knee 'shows something'.
The severity of the issue is unclear but there is hope that it will not be a long-term problem.
Mikel Arteta's side fell to a 2-0 home defeat against Liverpool today as once again they were left ruing a whole host of missed chances.
Speaking after the disappointing defeat, Areta said: ";He had some pain in his knee. We have done a scan that shows something."
Thomas Partey, Jurrien Timber and Fabio Vieira all remain absent due to injury, while Mohamed Elneny and Takehiro Tomiyasu have been selected for international duty.
Oleksandr Zinchenko also missed the game with injury.

Arteta did not mention Jesus' injury during his pre-match press conference on Friday, meaning the issue could have come to light during Saturday's training session.
The striker has a history of knee concerns, with some proving to be long-term problems.
He was sidelined for three months last season after suffering a knee injury during the World Cup.
Jesus also missed the start of this season due to a similar issue.

Speaking after the Gunners exited the FA Cup after an own-goal from Jakub Kiwior and Luis Diaz's rocket, Areta told: "Well the performance was there and the amount of chances too.
"We just have to win the game, but we lost it and we are not capitalising. To win games we need to capitalise.
"When you are better than the best team in Europe and you generate that amount of chances…I have not seen a team do it against them like we have done it.
"It is not enough. The reality is, it is not enough.
"Listen [do I say] play worse than Liverpool, be worse and we will win the game. When my team plays with this confidence what can I do? I am still behind them 100 per cent.
"It is what it is and we have to continue to play the same way and be more efficient."
