World Darts Championship star spotted playing for local football team just six days after beating Michael van Gerwen

Semi-finalist helped his local team go one better by reaching a cup final

DARTS cult hero Scott Williams helped his local football team get to a cup final - days after featuring in the World Darts Championship semi-final.

The world number 30 pulled off one of the shocks of the tournament by beating one of the favourites Michael van Gerwen in the quarter-final.

He was thrashed 6-0 in the next round by eventual winner Luke Humphries, who beat Luke Littler in the final.

Just days later he swapped the oche for the grass in his second semi-final of the week.

Williams, 33, donned the gloves as he featured in goal for Boston-based Swinhead Institute Reserves, who beat Park United Reserves 4-1 in the Main Ridge Takeaway Reserve Cup.

They are now in the final and Shaggy was spotted celebrating in the changing rooms alongside his team-mates.

The Lincolnshire club posted on X, formerly known as Twitter: “4-1 v skeg [Skegness] for the 1st team and the same result for res in the res cup semi. Welcome home Shaggy.”

Williams also took to social media, sharing a photo of the club's dartboard alongside the caption: “Saturday afternoons are for Football……and darts.”

He added: “My other real passion is football!!! Out representing Swineshead Institute and a 4-1 win in the semi-final of the reserve cup!!!”

Williams had plenty to cheer as his beloved Newcastle demolished rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup third round.

Williams picked up £100,000 for reaching the last four in the World Darts Championship - his best ever finish in the competition.
