Loanee had made Erik ten Hag's bench four times this season before weekend exit

And fans were left drooling over the striker’s “very clever” finish against Derby.

Hugill, 20, completed a loan move to League One Burton at the weekend.

And he was thrust into the action at Pride Park on Monday with his side 2-1 down.

But just three minutes after coming on to the pitch during the second half, Hugill found himself bearing down on goal after latching on to a defence-splitting pass.

Faced with just the goalkeeper, Hugill kept his nerve to hold on to the ball until he was almost in the box.

And as the stopper rushed out, the United youngster pulled the trigger on a clinical shot to hit the bottom corner of the goal.

Hugill’s equaliser sent visiting fans wild, while others watching from home took to social media to sing his praises.

One said: “That was a very clever finish.”

Another declared: “Just need the chance, he would score.”

One noted: “My number 9.”

Another added: “Brilliant finish, go on lad.”

Unfortunately for Hugill and Burton, hosts Derby ended up grabbing a dramatic 93rd minute winner through Conor Hourihane to seal a 3-2 victory.

The result leaves the Rams in third place in League One, while lowly Burton remain 19th and just five points above the drop zone.

Hugill will certainly be hoping for more goals during his time at his new club, having scored once in seven games for National League side Altrincham last term.

He is still yet to make his senior Manchester United bow, despite being rated as one of the top players in the Carrington academy.

Hugill had made Erik ten Hag’s bench four times this season.

And before joining Burton, he penned a new Red Devils contract keeping him at Old Trafford until 2026.

Hugill isn’t the only United youngster to depart this month, with the likes of Hannibal Mejbri and Mateo Mejia heading off too.
