He told Taylor Bowls: "Most of my family members have played bowls, but my father has been the most influential in the early parts of my Bowling career."

What titles has Jamie Walker won?

Walker made a sensational debut in the 2023 World Indoor Bowls Championship, pulling off a shock win to become the first unseeded open singles champion in 17 years.

Speaking about the prospect of his title defence, Jamie told Bowls International: “I am definitely looking forward to defending my title and getting back out on the portable rink at Potters.

"In fact, I’ve been looking forward to it since January to be honest.

“2023 has been a decent year winning the national fours indoors after Potters was a great way to round off the season.

“The world outdoors championships were held in Australia towards the end of the summer; it’s always great to play over in Oz.

“The competition is always very high and with the different elements over there, it’s a different challenge to what we experience in the northern hemisphere.

“I’ve been easing into the indoor season OK. I had a great run in the Scottish International Open, reaching the final and finishing runner-up to Stewart Anderson.

“I plan on playing plenty of nationals and a few open singles tournaments in the build up which should make sure I’ve had enough time on the green before the championship is here.

The event as a whole is a great experience. Potters Resorts is an amazing venue for these championships to be held at. It has everything.

“I’m looking forward to the banter off the green and hopefully some high quality games on it.”

Walker won the mixed and team titles at the 2013 European Championships.

He won the 2015 and 2019 Atlantic Bowls Championships singles titles, as well as the pairs at the same event in 2019.

Jamie also won the triples crown at the 2016 World Outdoor Championships.

What bowls does Jamie Walker use?

When asked by Taylor Bowls which bowls he prefers to play with, Jamie said: "I currently play with the Taylor Blaze indoors and they are my first choice due to being suitable on all different types of carpets around the country, therefore allowing me to play consistently with the same set.

"This has also allowed me to play with a bowl I am familiar with on the Portable carpet, where a lot of players have to switch bowls game to game.

"I find the Blaze is more versatile to changes in the green."
