World Indoor Bowls Championship 2024 LIVE RESULTS: Latest as Stewart Anderson BEATS Alex Marshall in final – updates

THE World Indoor Bowls Championship is over and Stewart Anderson has won it all, beating Alex Marshall in the final.

Anderson picked up his third world championship by beating Marshall in straight sets to become Open singles champion.

The Ladies Final saw Katherine Rednall retain her title over Julie Forrest after a stunning comeback win, with the Mixed and Open Pairs finals also decided.

    Stewart Anderson continued his good form into the final today as he swept aside Alex Marshall.

    In the all-Scot final, both players were playing some fine bowls giving spectators a classic final.

    As he immediately puts Alex Marshall on the backfoot he is forced into trying to clear the jack to no avail.

    It leaves Anderson one ball to try and get it close to his other two and he duly delivers to move a step closer to winning the title.

    There is just no seperating these two in this set.

    Just as it seems Anderson is going to extend his lead, Marshall pegs him back to take one ball from the end.

    He draws the set all level with just three ends left in the set.

    Another interesting end as Marshall is forced to take the jack out as Anderson crowds it with his balls.

    He connects brilliantly to take it right off the back into the gutter.

    Marshall follows up by getting the perfect weight to leave a ball closest the jack.

    Stewart Anderson ups his game and with his last ball, knocks Marshall's ball into the gutter also to take one ball from the end.

    Stewart Anderson take control of the end with two balls closest the jack.

    More importantly, he seemingly leaves one blocking the path for his opponent with his last ball.

    Alex Marshall goes all out and aims to take the jack out and connects perfectly.

    He takes two balls from the end to tie the set up in the sixth end.

    You just could not predict how this set is going to go from one end to the next.

    Firstly, Marshall seems in control with one ball closest the jack before Anderson comes through to nestle his ball closer.

    With the final ball of the end, Marshall comes through perfectly to strike the jack which then ricochets onto his other ball to nestle tightly to Anderson's red ball.

    Stewart Anderson takes one ball from the end and Alex Marshall is left lying on the ground in disbelief.

    This final is being played in great spirits between the two Scots who are playing well and enjoying the game.

    Just when it seemed the set was getting away from him, Alex Marshall pulls out all the stops.

    It leaves Marshall with three balls around the jack as he judges the weight perfectly to send a fourth in and get himself right back into this set.

    He judges the weight perfectly to leave it within range of the jack and take three balls from the end.

    The quality of bowling in this final has been top notch.

    Anderson has the advantage in the second end until Marshall comes through hard, displacing all his balls.

    It leaves Marshall with one ball nearest the jack but he misses the chance to really capitalise as he leaves his final ball too far from the jack.

    As a result he only takes one ball from the end.

    A high quality first end sees Marshall with one ball closest the jack.

    Anderson decides to take it on and comes through with some real pace to perfectly displace the green ball.

    Marshall tries to do the same with his next ball, knocking the jack out of play but narrowly misses.

    Stewart Anderson has the advantage with red balls crowding the jack.

    A real close end with both players having the advantage from ball to ball.

    Marshall is chasing the end, trying to displace Anderson's balls from the jack.

    As Anderson has one ball closest, Marshall uses his last ball to great effect to nestle it right on the jack.

    Stewart Anderson is going from strength to strength in this set.

    Surrounding the jack with his balls in the seventh end, making Alex Marshall work hard for anything.

    Despite his best efforts, Anderson takes two balls from the end.

    It leaves Stewart Anderson with no choice but to try and displace them but he can only move one.

    After five ends Alex Marshall has turned this set on its head.

    As you would expect, the quality levels are high in this final but as the pendulum swings from one way to the other, Marshall leads.

    Stewart Anderson will have to find something to take control of the set now.

    Anderson is on good form in the final and is getting his weights perfect.

    He has another three balls surrounding the jack, fording Marshall to go hard at them.

    His first attempt knocks one of his opponent's balls clear but his also follows that path.

    The final ball of the end is brilliant and displaces both of Anderson's balls, leaving Marshall with three closest to the jack to draw the set level.

    Stewart Anderson comes back with the perfect reply as he ties up three balls near the jack.

    It puts the pressure on Marshall and he just cannot find the ball to sneak through to nestle on the jack.

    As a result, Anderson sneaks his final ball through to get four surrounding the jack and retake the lead in the set.

    The six-time world champion comes back fighting in the second end as he nestles two balls closest the jack.

    Try as he might, Anderson cannot better his balls.

    It swings the set into the favour of Alex Marshall.
