Brentford star Ivan Toney scores free-kick on return from eight-month ban but fans slam ‘worst wall I’ve ever seen’
IVAN TONEY took just 19 minutes to settle back into life as a Premier League goalscorer.
Toney, 27, started and captained Brentford against Nottingham Forest as he returned to the line up for the first time since his eight-month betting ban.
And Toney did not take long to get back into the thick of the action.
Having gone a goal down to a Danilo screamer inside three minutes, the Bees then won a free-kick on the edge of the area.
Toney then stepped up to take the set piece before firing the ball into the bottom corner of Matt Turner's net.
The goal prompted the forward to wheel away in celebration and run over to hug manager Thomas Frank.

However, some fans could not help but question the wall ex-Arsenal goalie Turner had put in place to try and block the goal.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one fan said: "What is that wall?! 🤣."
A second said: "Whoever that is on the end of the wall should never play football again!"
A third said: "Said before he hit it, that keeper’s wall is all wrong. Not even a left footer stood over it, so why he didn’t over compensate for the right footer is beyond me. Terrible goalkeeping."

Another said: "I need another angle on this cause I have questions about that wall/gk positioning."
While a fifth added: "He’s basically got an open goal to shoot at what the hell is that wall?"
However, it was spotted afterwards that Toney shifted the ball a little to the left before taking it, which in turn helped him evade the wall.
Toney has been heavily linked with a transfer away from Brentford this month.
SunSport have outlined three reasons why Toney would be the perfect striker candidate for Chelsea this month.
However, with reports suggesting Toney could be sold for as much as £100million, Frank has said he is "99 per cent confident" the forward will not move away this month.
Toney is eyeing a spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad for Euro 2024.
