ENGLISH football chiefs are set to support Fifa’s controversial plans for a 48-team World Cup.
It is believed the FA and the other home nations would back the proposal provided Europe — who currently have 14 final spots — are guaranteed extra places, potentially starting at the 2026 tournament.
Fifa’s council are expected to give the green light to expanding the World Cup from 32 teams at a meeting in Zurich next week.
