EX-MANCHESTER UNITED midfielder James Weir has retired at the age of 28.
Weir made his one and only first-team appearance for the Red Devils
under former Man Utd boss Louis van Gaal in February 2016.
Preston-born Weir joined the United academy in 2008 and came on for Ander Herrera in the 95th minute of the club's 3-2 Premier League
victory over Arsenal.
Marcus Rashford scored twice at Old Trafford on his Premier League debut to down the Gunners - the same day as Weir's bow.
But their careers went in different paths.
Weir, who played for England U19s, joined Hull and then had spells at
Wigan and Bolton before heading to the continent.
