The country held the summer Games in Seoul back in 1988 and will pass the torch to Beijing for 2022.

Find out everything you need to know - including what Brits to look out for - below.

Where is the Winter Olympics 2018?

Mountainous Pyeongchang County - just 50 miles from the border with the North - will host the Games.

The popular hiking area is famous for its skiing and Buddhist temples.

Organisers are building a high-speed railway for the event which will make Pyeongchang about an hour's journey from South Korea's main airport, Incheon.

What events will be part of the 2018 Winter Olympics?

Just seven sports are represented in the Winter Olympics - 26 less than its bloated warm-weather sibling.

These are split into 15 disciplines: Alpine skiing, biathlon, bobsleigh, cross-country skiing, curling, figure skating, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, luge, nordic combined, short track speed skating, skeleton, ski jumping, snowboarding and speed skating.

All in there are more than 102 events to keep fans entertained.

What are Britain's chances of winning medals at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics?

Yarnold will be among the favourites in the skeleton after winning the European and World Championships in 2015.

Both the men's and women's curling teams will be among the contenders with Britain making a push to beat their 10-medal haul at Sochi 2014.

Funding has been doubled by UK Sport with curling and skeleton the main beneficiaries and skiing and snowboarding also targeted for podium finishes.
