Swansea City boss Paul Clement has added Chelsea legend Claude Makelele to the Liberty Stadium on a coaching role to help Swans stay up

PAUL Clement has added Chelsea legend Claude Makelele to join Swansea City's fight for survival.
Clement has talked his old Stamford Bridge colleague into joining the coaching team at the Welsh club.
Makelele was a hero at Chelsea and also part of the great French national side, but he has yet to click in management.

In an official club statement, Swansea said: "Swansea City is pleased to confirm that former French international Claude Makelele has joined the club’s coaching staff.
"The 43-year-old, who has signed a deal until the end of the season, reunites with head coach Paul Clement, who he worked with during his playing stint at Chelsea and as a coach with Paris Saint-Germain.
"The former Real Madrid, Chelsea and PSG midfielder has been named as an assistant coach, and will work alongside Clement’s fellow new recruits Nigel Gibbs and Karl Halabi, as well as goalkeeping coach Tony Roberts.
"Makelele will get his first taste of the Liberty on Saturday when he’s in the dug-out for the Swans’ Premier League fixture with Arsenal."

With the appointment of Makelele to the Liberty Stadium, they have someone who is a natural winner, and a man who achieves success wherever he goes.
He has won three league titles in different countries, the Ligue 1 with Nantes, two La Liga titles with Real Madrid as well as two Premier League championships with Chelsea.
Makelele has also won the Champions League with Los Blancos in 2002, and was part of the French squad that were runners-up in the 2006 World Cup.
He finished his playing career at Paris Saint-Germain where he then went on to win a Ligue 1 as assistant manager to Carlo Ancelotti.
Last year he was named as Monaco's technical director.
