THE darts Players Championship is well underway and teenage sensation Luke Littler has continued to take the darts world by storm.

The 17-year-old made his ProTour debut in Wigan on February 12 after he became a PDC darts professional in January.

The teenage sensation marked his first appearance at the Players Championship with a huge win and took home the £15,000 jackpot.

Littler beat Ryan Searle 8-7 in the final, boasting a stunning average of 110.

The 17-year-old also hit an epic nine-darter on his debut against Italian Michele Turetta in the last-32.

There are 128 players in action at each of the 30 Players Championship tournaments this year.

The 128 PDC Tour Card holders usually fill up the spots, but should they withdraw or not register, the highest-ranked players on the Challenge Tour Order of Merit are invited to fill the vacant spaces.

At the end of the 30 tournaments, the top 64 stars in the Players Championship Order of Merit are invited to participate in the finals.

Last year, World No1 Luke Humphries beat Michael van Gerwen 11-9 in the final to claim the crown.
