NEWCASTLE UNITED’S Dan Ashworth reportedly wants to join Manchester United.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s 25 per cent stake purchase in the Red Devils was approved by the Premier League on Tuesday.

Now The FA are due to officially give it the green light next week - and the British billionaire is already making changes at Old Trafford.

Now former England technical director and Brighton chief Ashworth has emerged as their top target to be sporting director.

The transfer guru is currently working for Newcastle having joined them in February 2022.

But the says that he wants to leave them to take up the role with United.

The report then adds that Ratcliffe is so confident of getting his man that no other person has even been approached for the role.

Journalist David Ornstein claims Ashworth has informed Newcastle about United's approach.

He adds that no talks between the clubs have taken place but formal contact is expected soon.
