  • Gunners set for Martinelli blow

Arsenal's injured winger Gabriel Martinelli is unlikely to recover in time for tomorrow's Champions League second leg at home to Porto.

The Brazilian hurt his foot in a 6-0 win over Sheffield United on Monday last week.

Martinelli had to be helped off the pitch.

He then missed Saturday's dramatic 2-1 Prem win over Brentford.

  • Why Carra reckons Liverpool vs City is now top game

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie, Carragher could not resist poking fun at Old Trafford icon Neville for his role in the infamous tunnel row between Arsenal's Patrick Vieira and United's Roy Keane in 2005.

Carra told the debate on Sky Sports: "Listen there’s no doubt, I’ve said that often, theirs was a bigger rivalry.

"They all didn’t like each other, he was running down the tunnel trying to get away from Vieira."

The bust-up at Highbury in 2005 was kickstarted by Vieira confronting Neville ahead of kick-off.

Carragher doubled down on his claim that the Liverpool/Man City is bigger than Man Utd's old one with Arsenal.

He said: "In terms of the quality, these are the better games 100 per cent. They never ever disappoint."

Neville joked back: ";We’ll have a Premier League winners’ party next time I’m Monday Night Football."

  • Nev says Man Utd vs Arsenal is biggest rivalry ever

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville clashed on Monday Night Football on whether Manchester United vs Arsenal two decades ago or Man City vs Liverpool now is the Prem's greatest ever rivalry .

Neville called his fellow Sky Sports pundit "offensive" for picking the current-day duel - which saw a 1-1 Anfield draw on Sunday - during a debate that also included Gunners' legend  Ian Wright.

Former Manchester United captain fumed: "Carragher’s statement that Liverpool-Manchester City over the last six years is the greatest rivalry is offensive.

"From 1998 to 2004, Arsenal won three titles and Manchester United won four, there was blood, thunder, quality. Everything you’d want in a rivalry.

"Over the last six years, Liverpool have won one title. It’s been an absolute demolition.

"For Ian Wright to stand there and not pull him up on it is unbelievable."

  • Prem giants duel for Netz

Manchester United are reportedly battling Arsenal for Borussia Monchengladbach left-back Luca Netz.

say both Prme giants are keen on the German Under-21 star.

And the Gunners are said to have sent scouts to watch the 20-year-old.

  • Prem clubs shake up financial rules

Premier League clubs have voted to switch from the current Profitability and Sustainability Rules to a new system, write CIARAN WISEMAN and MARTIN LIPTON.

The new system would mirror Uefa’s Squad Cost Ratio, tying spending on wages and transfers to a fixed percentage of income.

Clubs voted at a top flight "shareholders" meeting, with a broad agreement for the new system.

However, treble winners Manchester City did vote against the proposed switch.

The new system could be introduced as early as this summer and will not affect the ongoing cases against EvertonNottingham Forest and City. Their cases will instead be judged on the existing financial models, report .

Forest and Everton were both charged with PSR breaches for the 2022/23 season back in January. The Toffees have already faced a six-point deduction this term for a previous PSR breach, with their penalty reduced from 10 points on appeal.

As for City, they were charged with over 100 breaches of the Premier League's financial rules between 2009 and 2018 in February 2023 following a four-year investigation.

Meanwhile, clubs rejected voting on the proposed £995m funding deal for the EFL - in a huge rebuff for chief executive Richard Masters.

  • Mbappe 'n Haaland would be dream partnership

Pairing Kylian Mbappe with Erling Haaland would be the dream Premier League partnership.

That's the claim from ex-Arsenal and Chelsea defender William Gallas - amid contrasting situations for the strike heroes.

Haaland is battling back from injury while PSG's Mbappe is strongly tipped to join Real madrid next summer.

Ex-Tottenham ace Gallas told : "I'd sign them both! They're both unbelievable players who have completely different styles for scoring goals.

"At the moment, Erling Haaland has not been at his best since he came back from his injury. Haaland has missed a lot of chances, like the one against Manchester United.

"He's not back in his best shape yet, but I would still sign both players to win a treble at a club like Arsenal or Chelsea.

"Every opponent would be in trouble if they played together."

  • Ederson a doubt for Gunners' clash

Ederson faces a battle to be fit for Manchester City’s title crunch with Arsenal at the end of the month.

The Brazilian keeper injured his thigh while conceding a penalty in the 1-1 draw against Liverpool on Sunday.

And initial tests on Monday have indicated he will be out of action for three to four weeks.

    Credit: Rex

That means he will be touch and go to face the Gunners on Easter Sunday (31st) as well as fourth placed Aston Villa three days later.

But Pep Guardiola will at least hope to have him back for the Champions League quarter finals a week later.

The news is a blow for Ederson as it means he will not be able to play for Brazil in their friendly against England at Wembley on Saturday week.

With Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson missing through injury, the fixtures against the Three Lions and Spain the following week were a chance for him to stake a claim.

Guardiola has full faith in his second choice keeper Stefan Ortega who impressed after replacing Ederson at Anfield.

  • Tierney valued at £20m

Arsenal have set an asking price for left-back Kieran Tierney.

The Scotland ace is on loan at Real Sociedad in LaLiga.

According to Give Me Sport, any clubs that wish to sign him after that loan will have to pay £20million.

The left-back has been eyed up for a return to Celtic, as well as some other Premier League clubs.

  • Gunners' next five Premier League games

    Man City (A) – March 31

    Luton Town (H) – April 3

    Brighton (A) – April 6

    Aston Villa (H) – April 13

    Wolves (A) – April 20

  • Luca Netz transfer war

Arsenal are looking to beat Manchester United to Borussia Monchengladbach star Luca Netz's signature this summer.

According to , the Gunners are keeping tabs on Netz ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

In fact, the North Londoners have sent scouts to watch the left-back in action in Germany.

However, United are also keen on the 20-year-old and have also sent their own reps.

The Germany Under-21 international has amassed a total of 25 appearances this season.

  • Neville on Arsenal's title chances

Gary Neville isn't sure Arsenal can pick up a result against Manchester City at the Etihad on March 31.

And that could severely affect the Gunners' Premier League title hopes.

Arsenal could, but it’s at the Etihad. So you’re thinking are they going to have them on the ropes like Liverpool did in the second half?

I think Arsenal can do well at the Etihad as tough as it will be because Arsenal are playing very well.

You think about how anxious, nervous and on the ropes City were, it’s brilliant to watch actually City like that because they are a team of ultimate composure that you watch every single season be meticulous and melodic in everything they do.

And all of a sudden you see them here, and it’s like they are on a roundabout spinning for like five minutes and they come off and they don’t quite know where they are.

  • Arsenal injury blow

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been slapped with a major injury blow ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Last-16 clash against Porto at the Emirates.

That is because Gabriel Martinelli was absent from training at the Sobha Realty Training Centre.

The winger hobbled off during last week's 6-0 win at Sheffield United with what Arteta described as a "cut" to his foot and then he missed Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Brentford.

After the match with the Bees, the 22-year-old came through the mixed zone on crutches, although the injury is not thought to be more serious than a cut to the foot.

However, the Brazil international is now likely to miss tomorrow's clash with Porto.

  • Porto injury boost

Porto manager Sergio Conceicao has been handed a major injury boost ahead of Tuesday's Champions League Last-16 second leg against Arsenal at the Emirates.

Mehdi Taremi could return to action for the Portuguese giants against the Gunners.

Taremi has not played for the visitors since February but returned to training today.

The striker amassed six goals and four assists in 25 appearances before his injury.

  • Mikel Arteta's Porto message

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called on fans to "bring their noise" to the Emirates on Tuesday.

The Gunners face Porto in the second leg of their Champions League Last-16 encounter after losing 1-0 at the Dragao.

This stadium is going to have the energy that you have never seen in your life. Because we haven’t done it for 14 years.

Bring your noise, bring your energy, your passion to that stadium, and something beautiful is going to happen.

  • Ivan Toney audition?

SunSport assess Brentford star Ivan Toney's display against Arsenal based on key areas which concern Mikel Arteta:

    • BATTLE VS SALIBA – 3/5
    • ABILITY TO PRESS – 2/5
    • AERIAL DOMINANCE – 3/5
    • THE NITTY-GRITTY – 4/5
    • PENALTY BOX MENTALITY – 2/5
  • More from Frank

Brentford manager Thomas Frank insisted on his defence of Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale.

I said I think he’s a very good keeper and I didn’t want him to be involved in that situation.

Again I can’t say strongly enough I don’t think it was a mistake, but very good pressure from [Yoanne) Wissa.

  • Frank on Ramsdale

Brentford manager Thomas Frank revealed he told Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale that he didn't make a mistake against his side on Saturday.

I think I actually said to Ramsdale I don’t think he deserves to be criticised for a mistake.

I think it’s more unbelievable pressure from [Yoanne] Wissa. If you see the way he accelerates it could happen to David Raya.

I think it was fantastic pressure from Wissa and if you saw how many times they went long every single time we were very brave to go man to man.

  • Arsenal vs Porto preview

Arsenal take on Porto on Tuesday in the second leg of their Champions League Last-16 encounter after losing 1-0 at the Dragao.

The Gunners' boss Mikel Arteta is expected to reintroduce David Raya in goal ahead of Aaron Ramsdale.

And Oleksandr Zinchenko could be handed his first start in weeks having returned on the weekend.

Gabriel Martinelli, on the other hand, will need to be assessed after missing out on Saturday’s win over Brentford due to a foot injury.

Jurrien Timber (knee) and Takehiro Tomiyasu (muscle) look likely to remain on the sidelines.

Elsewhere, Porto manager Sergio Conceicao will be without Zaidu and Ivan Marcano who are out for the remainder of the season with cruciate ligament injuries.

But star man Mehdi Taremi has a chance of being in the squad despite his thigh strain.

  • Stick with it

Last year, Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale used to take his mind off the pressures of playing for a top team by collecting and swapping Panini stickers with the kit men and groundsmen.

And Ramsdale admits he still relies on being “normalised” by the club staff – especially after being axed as starting goalkeeper back in September.

Last year myself, Dan who was our player liaison, Adam who works at the training ground and Jonesy the kit man – we completed our Panini sticker albums.

Every morning I would be down in their office with them, spending hours swapping stickers. They have all helped this season too.

  • Premier League title prediction

A supercomputer has predicted Arsenal will win their first Premier League title since 2004.

According to  supercomputer BETSIE, the Gunners will beat title rivals Liverpool and Manchester City to the top.

In fact, the stats experts claim the North Londoners will amass the same points as the Reds.

However, Arsenal will beat the Merseysiders on goal difference.

  • Arsenal's striker search

Arsenal have put together a three-man centre-forward shortlist before the summer transfer window

According to , the Gunners' manager Mikel Arteta has identified three potential targets to spearhead his attack.

The North Londoners are eyeing Brighton's Evan Ferguson, RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres.

Arsenal are still strongly linked with a move for a striker despite their recent goalscoring prowess following their warm-weather training camp in Dubai.

  • Gabriel Martinelli injury update

Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli could be set for a bit of a spell in the sidelines.

Martinelli missed Saturday’s 2-1 win over Brentford after hobbling off during the 6-0 triumph against Sheffield United the week before.

The Gunners' manager Mikel Arteta claimed the winger only suffered a cut.

However, reports suggest the Brazil international was spotted wearing a protective boot at the Emirates.

  • 'Get Haaland and Mbappe'

Arsenal hero William Gallas has advised both the Gunners and Chelsea to find a way to sign both Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.

    Gallas told :

I'd sign [Erling Halaand and Kylian Mbappe] both! They're both unbelievable players who have completely different styles for scoring goals.

At the moment, Erling Haaland has not been at his best since he came back from his injury. Haaland has missed a lot of chances, like the one against Manchester United.

He's not back in his best shape yet, but I would still sign both players to win a treble at a club like Arsenal or Chelsea. Every opponent would be in trouble if they played together.

    William Gallas
  • Arsenal transfer advice

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit claims his former team should try and sign both Brentford star Ivan Toney and Athletic Bilbao ace Nico Williams this summer.

    Petit told :

Can Arsenal both get both Williams and Toney?

Arsenal are a young team and if you asked me I’d have both, but if I made a choice I think as striker would be better so Toney, although it would be good to have competition for [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Bukayo] Saka.

    Emmanuel Petit
  • Frank on Havertz

Brentford boss Thomas Frank insists Arsenal star Kai Havertz should have been sent off for diving on Saturday.

Havertz is a clear, clear dive. I wish they would just admit it.

I don't know if he has because that happens all the time, every week someone is doing it. I know it happens.

That should of course have been a second yellow and a red card.

And then he wouldn't be able to score the winner and hopefully maybe we would have gained a little bit more momentum, maybe to win the game.
