LIVERPOOL are on the hunt to find an alternative to Xabi Alonso as the next manager at Anfield.
The Bayer Leverkusen boss has become highly popular among the major European clubs after a stunning Bundesliga season so far.
And Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim has emerged as another candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp who will leave the Reds in the summer.
Alonso, however, is regarded as the club's biggest target after his astonishing unbeaten season at Leverkusen.
The Spaniard is on course to win the Germans their first-ever title, which has seen him linked with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and also Manchester United and Real Madrid.
Should Alonso decide against joining Liverpool, Amorim could be the man to replace Klopp.

Amorim, 39, has had less than five years of top-flight managerial experience and never coached outside Portugal.
A midfielder in his playing days, Amorim made 154 appearances for Sporting's big rivals Benfica, and won 14 caps for Portugal.
After hanging up his boots in 2017 he began his coaching career at Primera Liga side Casa Pia.

He guided the club to a double of the Taca da Liga and the Primeira Liga, ending the latter's 19-year league title drought.
Brighton's Roberto De Zerbi is another name rumoured to be on the shortlist.
