Ronnie O’Sullivan loses it
Ronnie O’Sullivan left commentators in shock as he raged after missing a simple shot during his first-round victory over Michael White.
O’Sullivan tried to close out the match at 4-3 as he stepped up to the table looking to put a red into the far corner.
But the Rocket made a poor error as the ball hit the cushion instead of falling into the pocket.
The eight-time Masters champion stuck his tongue out in frustration and grimaced before bashing his cue against the side of the table.
Eurosport commentators were left in shock as they said: “It’s been a few of those mid-range shots. He’s absolutely fuming. Crikey. He could have taken the lump out of his cue.”

Luca Brecel's weight loss
Snooker world champion Luca Brecel admits the “sky is the limit” after revealing his stunning weight loss.
I just needed to work a bit on my fitness and stuff like that.
I lost a bit of weight and feel much better. I think that was the kind of change I needed to play well again.
I feel like now, the sky is the limit.
Luca BrecelWilson's cue drama
Kyren Wilson endured a “nightmare” trip to the World Open as his cue took the Long Road to China.
The only problem with this event is it’s a bit of a nightmare travel-wise. We used to be allowed to have cues on the bullet trains. There used to be no problem with it.
I don’t know if there isn’t quite enough room to take massive ski tubes on. I don’t know. It’s a little bit frustrating.
After flying into Shanghai, there’s a bus that picks up a load of our cues. There are quite a lot of us on this flight. I pray I see them at the other end.
Listen, we were advised to travel into Beijing and then get an internal flight to Yushan. I’d rather reduce flying time as much as I can.
I like jumping on the bullet train. We have to put our fate into their hands and hope it turns up. But the cue is not the be-all and end-all for me. I feel like I could pick up another one if it goes wrong.

Ronnie O'Sullivan prediction
Ronnie O'Sullivan reckons there could be a Chinese potting sensation one day.
O'Sullivan is considered to be the greatest player of all time yet he is humble enough to accept that someone could possibly emerge from the Far East and then dominate the sport like he has.
Yeah, yeah. As long as they keep working hard and smart. You have to be smart these days. You have to try to learn the game, try to perfect every area of the game.
It takes a lot of dedication, which I know the Chinese are very good at. They have very good dedication and the academies here, they play for hours and hours and hours.
They have very good coaches. So the technique of the Chinese players is very good. Ding Junhui is a fantastic player. Zhang Anda is coming through. There are so many good players.
I think there will be more and more and better and better players. Whether there will be someone better than me, I don’t know. I have to wait and see…

Made his Mark
Mark Allen got savage payback on a troll who abused him following his defeat in the World Open in China.
Allen was beaten 5-3 by Welshman Daniel Wells and came under criticism online.
The Northern Irishman responded to his loss with a bizarre post on Twitter by promoting a painting and decorating service, accompanied with a phone number.
But the 38-year-old later clarified that the digits in fact belonged to a social media troll and the upload was just payback.
Allen said: "The phone number from my previous tweet is from an account who decided to send me some abuse after today’s loss.
"I just thought I’d have a little fun at their expense. If you need any painting and decorating done I recommend someone you know."
Great hall of China
The World Open is being staged this week at the grandiose Yushan Sports Center in the Jiangxi province of China.
A five-hour drive southwest of Shanghai, the Center claims to be the world’s first purpose-built venue designed specifically for billiards and snooker matches.
The building, which looks like something out of Disneyland Paris, has a construction area of 35,500 square metres and is 25.7metres high, the equivalent of an eight-floor building.
The arena for the baize action has 3,000 fixed seats but there is capacity to accommodate an extra 1,000.
Ronnie O’Sullivan loses it
Ronnie O'Sullivan left commentators in shock as he raged after missing a simple shot during his first-round victory over Michael White.
O'Sullivan tried to close out the match at 4-3 as he stepped up to the table looking to put a red into the far corner.
But the Rocket made a poor error as the ball hit the cushion instead of falling into the pocket.
The eight-time Masters champion stuck his tongue out in frustration and grimaced before bashing his cue against the side of the table.
Eurosport commentators were left in shock as they said: "It's been a few of those mid-range shots. He's absolutely fuming. Crikey. He could have taken the lump out of his cue."
Snooker's £2million man
Ronnie O'Sullivan could become snooker’s first £2million man if he sweeps the board over the next two months.
The Rocket, 48, has been in dominant form this season and has banked a record £1.42million in prize money.
This includes winning the UK Championship in York, the Masters in London and World Masters of Snooker in Saudi Arabia – the three events individually had £250,000 winners’ cheques.
His total has overtaken the previous high mark of £1.01million that was set by Judd Trump in 2018-19 when he claimed his one and only Crucible crown.
On the table now is some serious money if he continues his excellent form on the baize.
There is £170,000 for the World Open, £150,000 for the Tour Championship and, of course, £500,000 if he becomes an eight-time world champion in Sheffield.
Should he win all three – and add up to £30,000 extra for the highest-break bonuses in the process – then he will edge close to the £2m mark from just eight months of playing activity.
O'Sullivan's past comments
Former world champion Dennis Taylor insists Ronnie O’Sullivan’s past comments on the next generation are disappointing.
Taylor told :
Some of his comments on the younger players have been a bit disappointing. He was speaking about players not having any bottle. Not everyone can be a world champion but they’ve dedicated their lives to the sport.
Sometimes it’s a little bit disappointing to hear Ronnie criticising some of the new players or players who might not win a world title. As long as they have that dream, that is what snooker is all about.
If you spend your life practising five or six hours a day, which they do, it must be a little bit off putting for that player and their family to hear things like that. I think Ronnie shouldn’t really do it.
Dennis TaylorTaylor backs O'Sullivan to continue
Ex-World champion Dennis Taylor has claimed that Ronnie O'Sullivan's retirement suggestions should be taken with a "pinch of salt".
He told : "I think he will be around for a long time. I know he keeps talking about retiring but I take a lot of his interviews with a pinch of salt.
"I’m one of his biggest fans and I remember saying after he’d won two world championships that he could beat Stephen Hendry’s record but he does say now that he is not really interested.
"He’s always said that but he’s taken all of Hendry’s records apart from the number of world titles. Make no mistake, this year he will be out to make it eight and beat the record.
"I think everyone would like him to do it, with the exception of Stephen Hendry.
"When we do shows together he is always asked and I think he knows it’s just a matter of time before Ronnie makes it eight world titles."

O'Sullivan on Crucible return
Ronnie O'Sullivan has insisted that he will want to win his eighth World Championship.
He said: "I would love to win that another time to make it eight.
"A lot can happen there, there so many good players around.
"You have to get a little bit of luck and play some good snooker at the right time.
"But I will be there doing my best."
Snooker in China has 'bright future'
World Snooker Tour chairman Steve Dawson has claimed that the return of snooker to China is "just the beginning"
He said: "Having been unable to stage tournaments in mainland China between 2019 and 2023 due to travel restrictions, we have made an emphatic return this season.
"To have four major Chinese events in our first full season back in the Far East underlines the huge appetite for snooker in China and the fact that we have built lasting relationships with our key partners. Snooker’s future in China is bright and this is just the beginning.
"The World Open is a fantastic tournament in an outstanding location which has particular significance for snooker as it is the home of Star Xing Pai and the world's first Billiard Sports City."

Watch O'Sullivan's outrageous fluke shot
During Ronnie O'Sullivan's first century of the match against Michael White he did get a bit of fortune.
The Rocket had got down to the last three balls, but his Blue shot appeared to miss.
However, it cannoned off four bumpers and into the middle pocket much to O'Sullivan's surprise.
