That's all from Manchester

The two Premier League title rivals dropped points and fell behind Liverpool, who climbed up to the top of the table.

Bernardo Silva speaks
Bernardo Silva admits Manchester City are "not favourites" for the Premier League title.
It was tough. We played against a top, top team: very well organised, very competitive, high rhythm. It could have gone either way to be honest. We started better, we had more possession and control but they were very good as well. They were always dangerous on set-pieces and counters.
It’s tough to play against – when they pressed high they went man to man, and when they were low their wingers played as full-backs in a line of six. It’s never easy to play against teams who defend this well.
At the start of the game I felt they tried to be aggressive and press. When we could get three or four passes together, that’s when their wingers would go back in a line of six. Then they would be patient and not jump in. Two completely different games – they were very well organised and it wasn’t easy to create chances.
Last April they were doing man to man all over the pitch for the whole game. When you do that it’s a bit of a 50/50. Today it wasn’t quite the same. They’re a different team because they’re a young side who now have an extra year of experience. Today they were much better.
We’re not favourites [to win the league] any more. A lot can happen in seven games – is it seven or eight? I think seven. [It’s nine] Oh, nine! That’s better for us. We’re back in it! We need Liverpool or Arsenal to drop points and we need to do our job and win our games.
Bernardo SilvaMikel Arteta reacts
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta claims his team made "another big step" despite their dull performance as they kept Manchester City at bay.
A really competitive match as you can imagine. We made another big step today.
They have the capacity to change formations to get you in deep in many moments. They are very physical but I think we coped with that very well.
I think we had the best situations. We were really aggressive at times and getting the ball into great areas. The way we competed individually and as a team was phenomenal.
Individually you have to be at your best. I think it is 2021 since they hadn't scored a goal here at the Etihad. It was a really tough test for us today.
We wanted to win but when you cannot win you must not lose.
Mikel Arteta
Word from the ground
Instead of the clash of the titans we were expecting, Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta served up a clash of the tight ‘uns - with Jurgen Klopp the only winner.
Arsenal boss Arteta saw his side grind out the first goalless draw contested at the Etihad in two-and-a-half years. But it was Liverpool boss Klopp who was best pleased with this miserable match as his Reds now lead the Premier League, two points clear of the Gunners and three ahead of champions City.
It was as if Klopp’s two chief title rivals were determined to serve him up the Premier League trophy in a whip-round for his leaving present.
Arteta is supposed to be the apprentice of Guardiola, the high priest of footballing purity, but instead this was like watching two teams being simultaneously coached by Jose Mourinho.
Neither side managed to force a serious save from either goalkeeper in the dullest of non-events. Arsenal wasted time, committed tactical fouls and showed precious little attacking ambition - which, as the away side, might be justified.
But City were cautious too and they have still failed to beat any side in the top five of the current Premier League table this season. The defending Treble-winners are simply not as good as they were last term - their summer signings Jeremy Doku, Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol have not improved them and Erling Haaland is not the force of nature he was a year ago.
At a similar stage last season, Arsenal were battered here 4-1, Haaland monstering Rob Holding and their title hopes were over. But this time they travelled with renewed purpose, without having dropped a single point in 2024, and having defeated City at home, as well as in a Community Shield penalty shoot-out.
