Terzic was speaking after his side fell to a 2-1 defeat against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their quarter-final.

Sebatian Haller's late goal will give Dortmund fans hope of turning over their deficit at the Signal Iduna Park next week.

After Del Piero had wished Terzic "good luck" the Dortmund manager walked away before coming back and asking for a selfie.

Reacting to Terzic "fanboying" one X user said: "This is honestly such fan moment and I respect that!"

A third posted: "Who can blame him?"

A fourth fan said: "Anyone who calls something like that embarrassing isn't a football fan themselves. At the end of the day, every player and official is just as much a fan of the sport."

A fifth simply said: "Wholesome."
