After tussling for the ball with Dwight McNeil late on, Williams fell backwards over the advertising hoardings.

Williams then landed in front of the home supporters in the crowd.

He stayed down at first as the Forest medical staff rushed across the pitch.

The Sky Sports cameras also captured the moment and pictures showed Williams was out of sight with supporters surrounding him.

Fortunately, he was soon back to his feet after the heavy fall and able to continue.

Williams was even given a warm round of applause by the Toffees fans despite his links to fierce rivals Liverpool.

The Wales international started his career with the Reds, coming through the academy before 33 first-team appearances.

He also won the Premier League, League Cup and Club World Cup before joining Forest in 2022.

Williams' worrying fall was not the only lengthy delay late in the match.

A horror clash of heads between Beto and Morgan Gibbs-White during stoppage time caused a seven-minute pause in the action.

Sky Sports refused to show a replay of the incident whilst both players received treatment.

Once the match resumed, Everton were able to maintain their 2-0 lead to claim a crucial victory.

Goals from Idrissa Gueye and Dwight McNeil move the Toffees five points clear of the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, their opponents remain 17th and just a point above Luton in the battle for survival.
