  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0) - West Brom substitutions

    64. Here we go then! Albion send for John Swift, Brandon Thomas-Asante and Yann M'Vila.

Off go Okay Yokuslu, Grady Diangana and Jed Wallace.

Can Carlos Corberan's changes alter the course of this tie?

  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0)

    62. Albion are preparing a triple change, but will wait to see how this corner they have won pans out...

    Ah. They shouldn't have waited.

  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0)

    60. Half hour remains at St Mary's.

As it stands, it is Southampton heading to Wembley to face Leeds, but this is the Championship, remember? This is the play-offs.

  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0)

    58. As we approach the hour mark, will Carlos Corberan be considering changes?

He has been in this position before, of course, when in charge of Huddersfield at Sheffield Wednesday.

Can he work his magic again?

  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0)

    56. Penalty to Southampton! Must be! No!!

Taking advantage of a slack Palmer clearance, Aribo tees up Brooks inside the box, who looks set to score until Kipre wipes him out.

Referee Tim Robinson takes a long, hard look and then indicates that the Albion made won the ball.

Replays show that Kipre did get one foot on the ball - but only after he had gone through the back of Brooks with two of them.

  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0)

    54. Huge block from Harwood-Bellis!

The Man City loanee celebrates as if he's scored a goal, having denied Johnston an instant equaliser from point blank range.

The centre-back may not have known much about it as he turned his back on the action, but his presence of mind was as impressive as his presence of body once the ball was cut back into Johnston's path.

  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0)

    52. Albion go looking for an immediate response with Kipre putting McCarthy under pressure from a long Furlong throw.

The Southampton goalkeeper is just about bailed out by his defence and the referee.

  • Southampton 1-0 West Brom (Agg: 1-0)

    49. The first goal of the evening - and the first goal of the tie!

Is it one worth waiting for? Absolutely if you're Will Smallbone!

The Southampton youth team graduate intercepts Grady Diangana's loose pass in midfield and bursts forward.

He exchanges passes with David Brooks on the right, gets to the edge of the penalty area, and then pings in a beauty past Alex Palmer at the near post.

    Lift off inside St Mary's!

  • Breakthrough!

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    48. The forwards haven't had much joy so the full-backs take a go - and why not.

Walker-Peters takes charge after a triangle of passes manoeuvres beyond West Brom's midfield.

The ball skids off the surface as he hits it low but thumps into the advertising hoardings.

  • Kick-off - Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    46. There are no changes to report as Southampton get the acti... as the game gets back underway.

Gary Weaver tells us that only one Football League play-off semi-final has ever ended 0-0 after two goalless legs, and that was Leyton Orient against Rotherham back in 1999.

I don't want to tempt fate but I was at the second leg of that one too. Don't ask.

  • First half facts and figures

Soon Albion's exciting xG could be playing out at Anfield, the Emirates and Old Trafford.

  • Half-time - Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

No goals in 90 minutes at the Hawthorns. No goals in 45 minutes here. This Championship play-off is still deadlocked midway through the second leg.

Leeds lie in wait for the winners - if they haven't fallen asleep yet.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    45. In a first half of few stoppages, few chances and few talking points, it's hardly surprising that we're heading for one minute of stoppage time.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    44. As the first half draws to a close, Aribo - quiet for the past half hour - picks up possession, drops his shoulder, and goes for goal with a curler.

It's not a bad effort, but nevertheless too high and too wide to test Palmer.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    42. Astonishing skill by Johnston on the left takes him inside and beyond three Southampton players.

The Scot then beats another for good measure before laying it off.

At which point, Diangana watches the ball roll past his foot, allowing Smallbone to clear.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    42. This may not be enlightening at this point, but one goal will win this.

Just don't ask me who scores it or when.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    40. Good defensive work from Fraser, who reads Johnston's intended pass for Diangana on the right and slides in to steer it back to McCarthy.

Meanwhile, the unmarked Wallace on the left bemoans the decision-making of the Celtic loanee.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    38. Hmmm. This is starting to make the first leg look good.

Let's hope for some drama worthy of the play-offs in the second half.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    36. Albion complacency strikes again as Southampton counter-press and turn the ball over in the visitors' half.

It leaves Armstrong up against Bartley, and the striker tries to take the opportunity on earlier; his shot crashes into the legs of the defender.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    34. Flynn Downes is down with a pained look on his face, and - as a result - there are many anxious faces around the stadium too.

After a brief spell of attention, however, the midfielder is good to continue,

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    32. Commentary duo Gary Weaver and Don Goodman are now discussing some temporary advertising hoardings - which may indicate that we have hit a first half lull.

However, the question they raise is an interesting one: have Southampton installed these near to the side of the pitch to hinder West Brom's long throw expert Darnell Furlong?

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    30. "West Brom cannot continue like this, giving the ball away..." pleads Sky Sports' Don Goodman.

The former Albion striker is anxious after Johnston gets caught, and Brooks drills straight at Palmer from 30 yards.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    28. Kyle Walker-Peters tries out some fancy footwork just inside the penalty area, which is fine - providing you remember to take the ball with you.

Walker-Peters doesn't, and it allows Mikey Johnston to steal in and head upfield.

  • Southampton 0-0 West Brom (Agg: 0-0)

    26. "Oh when the Saints..." start up the home fans.

"One song! You've only got one song!" retort the travelling Albion masses.
