Steve Cooper is not interested in the role

London-born Jansen is looking for another club after he was sacked by AZ Alkmaar in January after spending over three years there as head coach.

Norwich’s sporting director Ben Knapper, previously loans manager at Arsenal, has drawn up a list of candidates but has yet to make a firm decision.

Former Huddersfield manager Wagner would have been sacked even if Norwich had earned promotion to the Premier League.

It was felt Wagner’s style of play was too negative even though they finished sixth in the table.

Jansen, 51, known for his attacking style of play, has been in talks with a number of clubs with both Spartak Moscow and Polish side Lech Poznan having shown an interest in him.

Another coach who was in the frame is Mikel Arteta’s assistant at Arsenal, Carlos Cuesta, but it looks as though Norwich have cooled their interest in the 28-year-old.

Former Nottingham Forest manager Steve Cooper was sounded out, but he was not interested.

The Welshman has been out of work since he was sacked back in December.

His replacement, Nuno Espirito Santo, managed to guide the club to safety despite a points deduction.

Cooper has been linked to multiple clubs since leaving the City Ground such as Crystal Palace and Birmingham City.

However, he has remained without a club and on the market.

There are a host of clubs searching for new managers following the end of the season.

Fellow Championship outfit Hull City need to find someone to take over from Liam Rosenior.

Brighton and Hove Albion are looking for a replacement for Roberto De Zerbi.

While Ipswich Town and Luton Town could be on the hunt should Kieran McKenna and Rob Edwards be poached.
