FRANCE defeated Austria 1-0 to kick off their Euro 2024 campaign - but the win came at a cost for star man Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe was forced off late on after suffering a broken nose following a horror collision which left him covered in blood.
The superstar - who has joined Real Madrid - set up the only goal after his cross was turned in for an own goal.

Kylian Mbappe was left with blood all over his face last night after breaking his nose.
He's now a major doubt for France's huge game against the Netherlands.

Kylian Mbappe was able to see the funny side to his unfortunate situation as he asked Twitter what mask he should wear upon his return.
Mbappe taken to hospital
Kylian Mbappe was taken to the nearby University Hospital of Dusseldorf for an assessment on his suspected broken nose following the game.
Reports in France suggest Mbappe will miss the remaining group stage games and return for the knockouts - should France reach them - wearing a protective mask.

Didier Deschamps told media in France that Kylian Mbappe has suffered a broken nose.
He said: "Yes, Kylian Mbappé has probably broken his nose.
"Apparently the nose is not good at all.
"So we’ll see. It's obviously the bad point of the evening. Even if it's just his nose it's annoying for us."

The French talisman bravely leapt to head home from a free-kick but connected with the shoulder of Austria defender Kevin Danso.

Kylian Mbappe suffered a broken nose as Austria dished out a kicking but were undone by Maximilian Wober’s own-goal.
It was not a vintage France display, Austria ensured that through their mixture of tough love and tireless work off the ball.
They could be a threat if they spend more time playing rather than brawling.
Didier Deschamps had joked that all of his players were handsome chaps ahead of their opener – and it seemed their opponents were intent on denting their good looks in Dusseldorf.
