BARCELONA have reportedly deemed Nico Williams an “unrealistic” signing - and are instead plotting a shock swoop for a Hull City star.
The LaLiga giants are desperate to bolster their attacking ranks this summer after finishing ten points behind champions Real Madrid.
They have been linked with a move for Athletic Bilbao star Williams, 21, for several months.
But with Barcelona’s ongoing financial issues, a big-money transfer could prove difficult.
However, are now claiming that the Catalans have identified a Plan B - and it is Jaden Philogene.
The 22-year-old winger was born in West London but joined Aston Villa’s academy as a kid.

He made his senior debut for them in May 2021 but was sent out to Stoke and Cardiff on loan over the next two years in order to get more experience.
Philogene’s performances convinced Hull to snap him up from Villa in September for £5m.
And he has gone on to catch the eye for both club and country.
He enjoyed a brilliant debut campaign with the Tigers in the Championship, scoring 12 and producing six assists.

Unfortunately for him, his team just missed out on the play-offs but his form did see him make his England U21 debut.
This report now claims that Barcelona have contacted Hull already over a potential transfer.
It states that they want to bring him to the Nou Camp initially on loan in order to assess whether he is suitable for them long-term.
Philogene could replace ex-Leeds star Raphinha, who Barca continue to try and offload from their books.
The Hull ace has been linked with some of Europe’s big boys in the past.
Both Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund were keen on him prior to him penning his first pro deal at Villa.
He was in the headlines again last season after scoring a goal that has become a Puskas Award contender.
That was when he curled an incredible rabona into the far corner against Rotherham United.

Despite the lure of Barca, Hull are still able to command a decent fee for Philogene.
He has two years left on his contract, with it also including an option for a third.
