Jeremy Perbet’s 59th-minute winner in this Europa League last-32 tie leaves Tottenham sweating ahead of next Thursday’s return leg at Wembley.
Spurs stars were greeted with V-signs from a small number of fans as they went to applaud their 1,200 travelling supporters at full-time.
But Pochettino insisted: “We competed from the start and it was an even game.
“Gent were very super-motivated to play against us and we coped with that motivation.
“We cannot be worried about this result. The tie is open and we must trust the team.
“Now we go to Wembley to try to win the game and make Wembley a home.”
