Man Utd set to hijack transfer of Australian goalkeeper, 17, from Sunderland despite him already training with them

Man Utd have asked Robbie Cook to join them at their academy

But United have now asked him to join them this week at their academy.

Meanwhile Sunderland are giving former Stoke stopper Blondy Noukeu a trial.

The Cameroon-born goalie, 22, was released by the Potters and has previous first-team experience on loan at Southend.

And Sunderland want to keep young midfield playmaker Caden Kelly by offering him a new contract.

The 20-year-old was a stand-out for the under-21s last season and is tipped for a first-team breakthrough so they are keen to nail down his long-term future.

Sunderland also face a battle to hold onto their star player Jack Clarke.

The winger has attracted attention after registering 15 goals and four assists last season, with Premier League newcomers Southampton interested.

However the Saints appear unwilling to match Sunderland’s £18million price tag.
