Here's what the winner, Barbora Krejcikova had to say as she spoke to the Centre Court crowd as the Wimbledon winner.
I don't have any words right now, it's just unbelievable, it's definitely the best day of my tennis career and also the best day of my life.
Well, I think nobody believes it that I got to the final and nobody believes that I won Wimbledon. I still can't believe it.
It's unbelievable I'm stood here now and I've won Wimbledon. I have no idea how.
Barbora KrejcikovaMore from Paolini...
Paolini: "The last two months have been crazy for me. I want to thank my team, my family. They always support me and I wouldn't be here without them.
"The crowd have been amazing. I received a lot of support. Just incredible to feel the love from them, I enjoy it so much.
"Today I am a little bit sad. I try to keep smiling because I have to remember today is still a good day, I made the final of Wimbledon.
"I remember as a kid watching the final and cheering for Federer I have to say.
"It's been a beautiful two weeks and I want to thank everyone who made it possible. The ball kids, the LTA. I'll forget someone but please don't be mad at me."
'Keep smiling'
What a message from Jasmine Paolini during her speech: "I'm a little bit sad but I try to keep smiling."
Oh, my heart.
Well done, what an effort from Paolini.
She may have lost the final but she has certainly won the hearts of the British tennis crowd.
What an ovation
Jasmine Paolini is called forward to collect the runner-up shield.
And understandably, the Centre Court crowd erupts for the lovable, little Italian.
Arguably an even bigger cheer for Paolini than Krejcikova as the Czech comes to get her hands on the Venus Rosewater Dish.
Delight for Krejcikova, heartache for Paolini
Oh the highs and lows of sport.
Sheer, unbridled joy for the champion.
She jumps up into the player box to celebrate with her team and family.
Wonderful scenes.
But for the defeated finalist, the pain is clear to see as a tear wells up in her eye.
What a run from the Italian, who won her first match on grass just 17 days ago.
Still, she manages that trademark smile as she sits in her chair, no doubt thinking about that double fault on break point or those missed break-point chances.

Nervy, nervy, nervy double fault - that second serve was way long. 30-15.
Aborted ball toss. Grief this is tense. Backhand long from Krejcikova. 30-30.
And again! Oh this is so tough to watch - let alone be out there on the court. 30-40, break point.
That's more like it, Krejcikova comes in and volleys into the space with Paolini on the run. Deuce.
Just a 79mph second serve but it is enough to get into the point and Paolini misses on the stretch.
A first Championship point...
Krejcikova goes big on the backhand... well out. Deuce.
Brilliant from Paolini, scrambling so well before turning defence into attack with one superb backhand as Krejcikova pops up a volley and Paolini despatches the forehand past her stranded opponent. Forza from Jasmine.
Brave from Krejcikova as she puts a forehand on the line to save the second break point. Paolini challenges in hope rather than expectation.
