Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp compares Leicester’s sacking of Claudio Ranieri to Trump and Brexit
German lumps firing of Foxes manager in with 'strange decisions' to leave European Union and elect Donald Trump as US President
LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp has compared Leicester's sacking of Claudio Ranieri to the election of Donald Trump and Brexit.
The German said he could not understand why the Premier League champions had fired the Italian, saying: "There have been a few strange decisions in 2016 and 2017 - Brexit, Trump, Ranieri."
Speaking on Friday afternoon, ahead of Liverpool's trip to Leicester in the Premier League on Monday night, Klopp paid tribute to Ranieri.
He said: "What can I say? Am I surprised that things like this can happen? No.
"But it's not only football, there have been a few strange decisions in 2016 and 2017 - Brexit, Trump, Ranieri.

"I have no idea why Leicester did this. Everbody can see the situation in the league and the Champions League.
"He is a really special person in this sport, a really nice guy. I met him when he visited me in Dortmund and he's a wonderful person. But you have to ask Leicester why they did this."

Klopp said he could not predict what effect Ranieri's sacking would have on Monday night's game, but warned his players against complacency.
Klopp said: "I said earlier in the week that Leicester probably now know exactly what the problem is and we should always to expect the best Leicester.
"We saw the Champions League game [a 2-1 defeat for Leicester] and we saw the reaction after they scored."
