Pele’s son sentenced to 13 years in prison for money laundering and drug trafficking
Late on Friday the son of the legendary Brazilian turned himself into the police after being accused of major crimes
PELE'S son Edson “Edinho” Cholbi do Nascimento has been served a 13-year prison sentence for drug trafficking and money laundering.
A judge ordered to him to begin serving time this week after reducing his sentence from 33 years to 13.
The 33 year sentance was given in 2014 during a mandatory monthly visit to a Santos court.
The 46-year-old former goalkeeper spoke to reporters before turning himself in the Brazilian city of Santos.
He said: “There’s great frustration because I am being accused of money laundering, but I never did that.”
Edinho was accused based on phone tap evidence but has said he will continue to fight the allegations.

He claims that his only experiences with drugs are with a drug user not a dealer.
One of seven children of three-time world cup winner Pele, Edinho was first arrested in 2005 following a police swoop on a drug trafficking gang. He served six months in prison but was then released on parole.
When Pele was asked to comment on the situation he made it clear he believes his son is innocent
He said ""God willing, justice will be done. There is not a shred of evidence against my son,"
