EDDIE HOWE has admitted his admiration for AC Milan star Malick Thiaw for the first time.
Reports emerged on the continent on Monday that the 22-year-old Germany international was set to reunite with old San Siro team-mate Sandro Tonali on Tyneside.
But the Newcastle boss is adamant that there are “no updates” to report in the negotiations with the Serie A club.
Thiaw, 22, has been scouted by several Premier League clubs.
However the Magpies have shot to the front of the queue with speculation the centre-half had agreed terms over a St. James’ Park switch.
Howe has now revealed that he is a big fan of Thiaw after getting a close-hand look at him in the Champions League last season.
