GARETH BALE could face more time on the sidelines this season after hobbling off late on in Real Madrid's win over Villarreal.
It was the Wales international's first game back in Zinedine Zidane's starting line up after recovering from an ankle injury which kept him out for three months.
The 27-year-old was substituted off for Lucas Vazquez after he miss kicked the ball before rolling his ankle.
The severity of his most recent knock has not been revealed by Real Madrid, who have returned to the top of La Liga.
Bale scored on his return to the first team, as Madrid came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away from home.
