The National March for Alexis Sanchez to leave Arsenal group's post read: "We, as Chileans, are tired of watching one of our biggest stars play on his own.

"We don't want him to play at Real Madrid, nor go back to Barcelona, we don't give a f*ck where he plays, we just want him to fight along with other 10 players to get the results.

"He doesn't deserve to be alone."

And after the page caught the eye a statement confirmed the march was going ahead despite originally being a tongue-in-cheek comment on the misfiring Gunners.

It said: "It was a joke, since the first day, and it's clear for all. “But we never thought that media from 17 countries would cover this thing (...) so it's simple: we'll stop this joke today...

"See you 7pm at Plaza Baquedano. The first to arrive climbs up the monument with an Alexis shirt. If it's an Arsenal one people could possibly burn it so I suggest it should be a Chile National Team one."

Sanchez is in the final 18 months of his contract at the Emirates, and there are reports that he was involved in a dressing-room row after the defeat in Germany.

The former Barcelona man has netted 20 times in all competitions this season and leads the way in the Premier League goal-scoring charts with 17 strikes.

He signed for the club in 2014 and has since went on to score 62 goals in 127 appearances - almost a goal every other game.

Now in his third season, he has only picked up one FA Cup winners medal.

The Chilean forward is being wooed by cash-rich French giants Paris Saint-Germain and would have no shortage of suitors should he decide not to sign a new contract a the Emirates.

He has spent several months stalling on a new Arsenal deal as he bids to become the club’s highest earner – and earn similar amounts to those raked in by players at rival clubs.

And Sanchez wants upwards of £300,000-a-week to stay at the club – as does Mesut Ozil.

But the bad news for Gunners fans is that he is prepared to wait till after Arsenal’s top-four fate is decided before putting pen to paper on a new contract.
