David Haye leaves hospital without undergoing ankle surgery after being defeated by Tony Bellew in blockbuster fight at the o2
DAVID HAYE did not have surgery on his damaged Achilles following his loss to Tony Bellew last night.
The Londoner crocked himself in the sixth-round of their blockbuster bout at the o2 and could barely stand for the rest of the fight, but left hospital the next day without needing surgery.
Before his trainer Shane Mcguigan threw in the towel in the 11th-round, the Hayemaker stumbled around the ring, and could not keep his balance.
He was taken to hospital for an examination of the Achilles tendon following the stunning scrap, and looked set to have an operation to repair the damage.
More on David Haye
It is not known how long Haye will be out for, but it could spell the end of his career aged 36.
Hayemaker had flown to Munich in the week to see a specialist over the problem in his right leg, and was given the all-clear.
He met with Hans Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt, who helped him with rehabilitation on shoulder surgery undergone in 2013.
Haye had to pull out of a mega-fight with domestic rival Tyson Fury because of the problem.
