Saka's start came just a day after Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard picked up an injury while on international duty.

The midfielder hurt his ankle in Norway's 2-1 win over Austria in the Nations League.

And it couldn't have some at a worse time for the Gunners, with the North London derby on Sunday.

Arsenal fans are fuming at the decision to start Saka with the crucial fixture coming up.

Another blasted: "Honestly I hate international football. Everybody else’s players get rested.

"Yet the Arsenal ones like Rice, Saka and Odegaard etc etc, are all starting every game playing 90S every time. So annoying."

The Gunners are also missing summer signings Riccardo Calafiori and Mikel Merino as well as Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Carsley also handed former Manchester United wonderkid Angel Gomes his first start for England.
