"Me and my team thought it was best that we just pulled out because we knew there was just no shot of us placing top-three at this point, or higher.
"And we do not want to drop placing.”
Ten weeks after Olympia he shared an update on his followers' feeds saying: "when the time comes I'll be ready".
Is Nick Walker the biggest bodybuilder?
The Mutant is associated with the IFBB Pro Federation, and up to 2020 he was considered an amateur bodybuilder.
But in the NPC North American Show, Nick received his IFBB Pro Card and turned professional.
He won the Arnold Classic Championship in 2021 - the second most prestigious championship after the iconic Mr Olympia.
Nick - who was 27 at the time - became the youngest person to win the competition in 30 years and picked up prize money of around $119,000.
Writing on Instagram, he described how his triumph was, "one of the greatest feelings I have ever felt".
He added: "Winning feels so good, but the memories and friendships made, nothing compares."
Ever since Nick faced Derek Lunsford at the 2022 Mr Olympia, where Nick finished a place behind his competitor, the two bodybuilders have been pitted against each other.
Derek finished as runner-up to Hadi Choopan, with Nick in third.
Who is Nick Walker dating?
In 2022, the professional bodybuilder revealed on Instagram that he was dating Maria Carvajal.
"..And we finally got a table that Maria built," he says, panning from the table topped with a lit candle over to his other half, waving hello to the camera.
Maria is also a bodybuilder, and though Nick has bigger guns, he revealed that "she's the handyman of the house. I'm not about this life".
On November 5, 2023, he referred to her as his wife in a post on Facebook.
He posted: "This week has been a crazy crazy roller coaster of ups and downs, but my wife (yes my wife) held us both together, all the running around, all the store stops, doctors appointments, making sure I had my food, putting my socks on, my pants on, helping me shower, Maria is something extremely special, she has certainly made me a stronger person, i couldn’t be happier and more Proud to share my life with you, it’s only up from here and I’ll make sure of that."
He signed the post off "I love you Maria".
However, it appears the pair have since broken their relationship off.
Maria no longer follows Nick on Instagram and a screenshot of her story has been shared online where she wrote: "As we share very closely with you guys our life I would like to disclose this now.
"Some things may not seem like they are.
"Nick and I decided to take different paths away from each other.
