Higgins began this week ranked outside the world's top 16 for the first time in 29 years.
But the Scot could end it with a 32nd career ranking title in his collection.
The 49 year-old compiled a couple of centuries in a comfortable 5-1 outing against Elliot Slessor in the last round.
While Lines produced a strong finish to deny World Championship runner up Zak Jones with a 5-4 scoreline in the quarters.
Oliver Lines is the son of former professional snooker player Peter Lines.

Oliver Lines faces 49-year-old John Higgins - who has won 31 ranking titles - at 1pm today.

Trump's century milestone
Judd Trump, 35, is just the third player to ever reach the milestone after Ronnie O’Sullivan and John Higgins.
The current world No1 has also hit the figure quicker than both of his rivals.
O'Sullivan was 43-years-old when got there and Higgins was 49.
It took both of them 27 and 33 years on tour respectively to hit 1000 centuries - but Trump needed only 20 seasons.
Grand old Trump
Judd Trump received a standing ovation after recording his 1,000th century last night.
The 35-year-old reached the milestone in his British Open semi-final against Mark Allen, but went on to lose to the Northern Irishman.
Fans inside the arena in Cheltenham were on their feet applauding Trump.
Trump had a huge grin on his face, acknowledging the cheers by putting his arm up to the crowd.
In a classy moment, opponent Allen also joined in and clapped the former world champion.

Selby paid tribute to the late Clive Everton following his quarter-final win over David Gilbert on Friday.
He said: "When I first started as a pro he was the main commentator, and I would also buy his magazine Snooker Scene.
"It's a very sad day for snooker, he had such an iconic voice."
Trump makes 1000 career centuries
Last night, Judd Trump made his 1,000th career century during his thrilling quarter-final with Mark Allen.
After hitting the milestone, the World No1 joins Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins in the exclusive club.
