  • Trump vs Higgins - head to head

Judd Trump and John Higgins have shared one of the great rivalries in snooker and that is shown in their head-to-head stats.

They have now faced each other 50 times since their first meeting way back in 2008 and the starts show how close they've played each other over the last 16 years.

Trump has actually won more frames but Higgins has more wins - but the Ace in the Pack has got the better of the rivalry in recent times, winning four of the last five.

Trump, of course, beat Higgins in the 2019 World Championship final but the pair have a record of 3-3 in finals.

John Higgins also recently beat Judd Trump in their race to become the second player, behind Ronnie O'Sullivan, to reach 1,000 centuries.

  • Trump v Higgins rivalry

We have a potential classic to look forward to in tomorrow's last-16.

Trump continued: "I think, at this moment in time, we have had the best games against each other of anyone.

"He has been one of the best rivalries I’ve had in snooker.

"There have been some great memories in the games between us."

  • The Ace in the Pack

Judd Trump looks a strong candidate to defend his title after another impressive display.

The 29-time ranking event winner sauntered past Anthony McGill to set up a grudge match with John Higgins.

Trump said: "I find it easier playing John because I know I have to play at my absolute best to stand a chance.

"John is in good form and I will have to play well and improve if I am going to win."

  • Local boy

It was a family affair for Wuhan-native Long Zehuang on Tuesday.

The 27-year-old scored a huge 5-0 win over Jackson Page, setting up a last-16 clash with Ben Woollaston.

Zehuang said: "I felt particularly nervous today because my family was watching.

"I’m from Wuhan and my wife and child were also here too. Maybe that brought me good luck today, as it is very rare for my family to watch me play.

“My child was born this year and is now eight months old. My wife has been taking care of everything at home.

"She is incredibly supportive of me and my entire family is behind me. Without their support, I might have already given up."

  • Xiao Guodong speaks

Earlier, there was a big shock as Xiao Guodong knocked out world champion Kyren Wilson after an epic battle.

The Chinese star took the thrilling contest 5-4.

Xiao said: "Kyren is ranked number two in the world and became world champion this year so I kept a clear head and reminded myself to be patient for my chance.

"Whether I was leading or trailing, I couldn’t let my guard down.

"When I compete in China, I really want to win. Having fans and my family in the audience makes me want to show my best.

"Thankfully I managed to get the result today."

John Higgins credited "divine intervention" after his 5-4 victory over Fan Zhengyi in round two of the Wuhan Open.

Higgins trailed 3-0 and 4-2 to China's Fan before he managed a break of 61 to grab one back and went on to complete the turnaround.

He said after the win: "I was going nowhere after Saudi Arabia with my old cue.

"My game was in bad shape. It maybe took some divine intervention, I don't know what it was.

"It made me swap equipment and it seems to have given me a lease of life. Who knows how long it will last but today it seems good."
