The player came through the ranks at Lincoln and got a Premier League move to Newcastle in 1995.

He struggled for game time under Kevin Keegan and was loaned to Milwall before permanently joining Coventry.

He scored 28 league goals for the club across three seasons and earned a £6million transfer to then Champions League club Leeds.

After one-and-a-half years at Elland Road, he signed for Manchester City, playing a crucial role in getting the club promoted from the Championship in 2002.
