Australian Skye Nicolson successfully defends her WBC featherweight title against Raven Chapman in the first ever women’s world title fight in Saudi Arabia.
Skye smiles before the decision is even given. She was in no doubt. The judges score it 99-91, 98-92, 98-92 in her favour.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 10
This isn't Skye Nicolson's first rodeo. She knew she needed to avoid trouble in that tenth and final round and achieved it with a minimum of fuss. It goes to the judges scorecard but there's no real doubt who'll be getting the decision.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 9
Ooft! Chapman lands a big right hand at the start of the round which Nicolson takes well enough and responds with a strong finish.
Raven Chapman's trainer has told her that she's got to get a KO.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 8
There's no way around it, Raven Chapman needs a KO to win this. She does connect with a decent right hook but Nicolson uses the lead hand to keep her opponent at bay.
In her two world title fights heading into this one, Nicolson has only lost one round on one judges scorecard.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 7
It must be infuriating to fight Skye Nicolson. She's always got a smile on her face and she's clearly very comfortable with how this is going tonight.
Raven is throwing sporadically but she's not landing anything. And when she does - it's a single shot with no follow-up or combinations.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 6
An almost completely incident-free round there in the sixth. Lots of "oohs" and "ahhs" from the coaches in the corner but I'm not sure what fight they were watching.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 5
"You need to be cutting off the ring and get your jab working, she's not using her jab," says Nicola Adams about Raven Chapman on DAZN.
Saying that, the Queensbury Queen did connect with a solid right in the final ten seconds. With so few punches thrown, that could actually win her the round.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 4
Another round in the bank for Skye Nicolson you would imagine. She's landing the cleaner shots with Chapman almost hesitating too much and a little easy to read for the champ.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 3
Cracking left hand and a solid couple of body shots from an improving Skye Nicolson. She's in the ascendancy now with Raven Chapman struggling to land any combinations. Chapman did have a decent right connect in the early stages but not much after that.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 2
Still a cagey one. Nothing significant landed with both fighters bobbing and weaving out of range and out of trouble.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman - Round 1
Absolutely wild overhand right from England's Raven Chapman in the early stages of the opening round. It didn't connect but she's certainly showing positive intent.
Meanwhile Australia's Skye Nicolson calmly keeps her distance and occasionally lands a few jabs but there wasn't too much action to discuss.
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman
Don't forget, there's a little added spice in this contest with it being Matchroom (Nicolson) vs Queensbury (Chapman).
Although clearly nothing could break up new besties Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren these days, eh?
Anyway, Someone's 'O' has got to go!
Skye Nicolson vs Raven Chapman
Flying through it tonight aren't we.
The next contest is the first-ever women's world title fight in Saudi Arabia between "Queen of Queensbury" Raven Chapman and Australian Skye Nicolson.
Nicolson is defending her WBC featherweight title in this contest, but Chapman has predicted a KO. We'll soon find see what happens.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron
Tell you what, it's a real shame the fight ended like that.
It really was shaping up nicely with underdog Liam Cameron threatening to upset the odds. Not doubt that we'll see that fight again in the coming months and you could perhaps call it a lucky escape for the Olympic Silver medalist.
"He messed around and found out tonight. He tried to prove a point. He got away from his skills and his boxing and mixed it with a rough and tough guy, who will feel aggrieved not to get the decision tonight ," said Andy Lee on DAZN.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron - Split Draw
"Due to an accidental injury, we will go to the judges scorecards," says the referee.
The scorecards have it 58-57, 57-58, 58-58. So, it's a technical decision split draw. Not sure anyone had that on their bingo cards tonight.
Cameron exits the ring shaking his head. He thought he'd done more than enough to register that win.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron
It's over, folks.
Ben Whittaker has retired hurt and the contest will go to the judges, and it will be scored on the first FIVE rounds of the fight.
Now it's tough to see how Whittaker hurt his leg, because there's no obvious twist or impact on it - at least none that the camera can pick up.
But, he's now in a wheelchair leaving the arena.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron
Liam Cameron is back on his feet. He's on his toes in the corner bouncing around and ready to go.
But, Ben Whittaker is down and complaining about a hurt right leg. Can't quite see how the injury occurred but the referee is now talking to the boxing board of control.
If Whittaker can't continue, this will go to the scorecards.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron - Round 5
"He's boxing the wrong fight," says former super featherweight champion Barry Jones on DAZN. He's suggesting that Ben Whittaker might just have believed his own hype a bit too much by chasing a highlight reel knockout.
We're learning quite a bit about Whittaker…
PAUSE THAT THOUGHT!
Ben Whittaker and Liam Cameron have both just fallen out of the ring at the very end of the 5th Round. Cameron looks to have been the aggressor but Whittaker held on and they rolled over the top rope like a Royal Rumble.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron - Round 4
DAZN are saying that Ben Whittaker changed his gloves at the very last minute before leaving the dressing room tonight.
Make of that what you will…
Anyway, Liam Cameron is trying to be a little more aggressive here and it's got Whittaker tensed up. He's being dragged into a rough fight and has struggled to land anything significant.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron - Round 3
No cocky antics from Whittaker… yet! And that's probably because Liam Cameron is doing a lot better than those pre-fight odds suggested.
It is a step up for Whittaker and Cameron's experience is serving him well. Whittaker lands with a heavy overhand right, but Cameron returns with a quick left and a hook.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron - Round 2
Liam Cameron described himself as the Artur Beterbiev of Sheffield earlier this week.
Not entirely sure he's got that right… although he is keeping his hands nice and high and blocking a lot of Whittaker's punches.
He's also delivering a few nice counters of his own. That's been a good round from the Sheffield Beterbiev...
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron - Round 1
Former world champion Andy Lee thinks that British light heavyweight prospect Ben Whittaker is 'the future of boxing'.
It's tough to disagree, especially on this first round display. The difference in hand speed is night and day with Whittaker jabbing beautifully.
Ben Whittaker vs Liam Cameron
Oh he's very Marmite isn't he, Ben Whittaker.
Confident or arrogant, showman or show-off? Whatever you think, Ben Whittaker has become must-see TV. I suspect we'll see more of his tricks in the ring tonight -- especially given he's 1/25 to win this encounter against Liam "cannonball" Cameron.
"My motto is glitz and glam, but Saturday it's going to be a NASTY Ben Whittaker," said Whittaker earlier this week.
Up next…
Ok, the undercard starts proper now as Ben Whittaker takes on Liam Cameron.
I can exclusively reveal, via Sky Sports' Twitter account which is free and available to everyone, that Whittaker looks cool as a cucumber. He's dancing in his dressing room to music.
Don't ask me what he's listening to. Not a clue.
As for Cameron, it's one heck of a story.
In October 2023, Cameron returned from a five-year lay-off and outpointed Robbie Connor at the Park Community Arena in Sheffield.
12 months on, he's fighting the Olympic silver medallist in Riyadh.
And the winner is...
Well as expected, Saudi's Mohammaed Alakel performed pretty well on debut and registered himself a unanimous 42-36 win on the judges scorecards.
His Colombian opponents Jesus Gonzalez actually looks happier than the winner. Strange but who am I to judge.
